girls love "gentlemen". PERIOD.

...the things is that you don't have to do it ONLY WITH women you like. try doing it to everyone like old people, kids, even with fellow men! ... plus, UGLY women..

open the door, offer a seat, smile... you know what i mean.. DO IT TO EVERYONE!

this way, i think the girls will see that you are not only impressing them, but you are a "genuine" (at least in their eyes) person as you are a "gentleman" to everyone. ;) my two cents.. :)

have you tried this? was this effective for you?

i've tried it in every past relationship.

got fucked over each time.

no more chivalry.

chivalry is for "ladies".

there ain't many "ladies" around anymore,

just a buncha females.

Chivalry - everyday, all day... never done me wrong.. but this is a personal want coming from within me.

I just think it's the "right" thing to be ... everybody's different.. I've never had a problem with it assuming your are conveying enough masculine polarity.

i agree, i also feel like its the right thing to do...but it seems to me like it can be a bit desperate, almost like you are trying to qualify for the woman. from what i gather us men should have the ladies hold the doors for us.

but personally it will be one trait that will be hard for me to break.

it depends, if you are with a girl YOU aren't gaming because she is a friend or other then i don't mind being a gentlemen every now and then.

i am in an LTR and i'm not a gentleman all the time with my girl, don't get me wrong i'm happy where i am at with my girl. BUT i don't let her sit on her laurels thinking she has me on lock. The second you make/take it easy on a girl they start getting other ideas so always keep them on their toes.

No, your problem is not that your a gentleman. It's that your probably not conveying enough - Confidence, Masculine polarity, conviction in your belief/desire.

Being cold will only make you seem like an asshole.

This Is true, woman do not act like ladies.. (Most) .. and I am a firm believer of treat others the way they deserve to be treated

However, Being a gentlemen is not going to get you walked over. You get walked over when you become a supplicating bitch.. that is different behaviour.

For example.

You pay for everything - Bitch

You allow for her to offer, but pay for a few things here or there - Gentlemen

Leap for the door, pick up after her - Bitch

Get the door if it's right there hold a bag here or there if your shopping - Gentlemen

Pay for the taxi. (to her house and not go in) - Bitch

Pay for the taxi. (to your house!) - Gentleman

Use your discretion boys. - -there has to be a certain value to you in every action you perform..


I never hold her handbag ( I aint no bagman ) and if we're out i'll buy her 1 drink, then she reciprocates.. if not.. no more..

I wont pay for club entry, I wont hover around her all night, I will wait for her if we're leaving and she goes to the bathroom. I will carry her if it's NEEDED.

Just be a man about it..

Nothing wrong with being a Gentlemen. But theres a fine line between Gentlemen and being the womens Bitch. Fuck i usually just hit the handycap button to open the door when im out, usually theres always one. Not my fault if it closes on them.

Just the other day i was at Tim Hortons getting a coffee and this chick was behind me with a tray of coffee, i held the door open. Nothing wrong with being nice.

I'm pretty sure you're discussing a very different topic from the one put forth by the OP. He's a young kid who thinks 'holding a door' is 'gentlemanly'. You're probably talking about compromising your needs for the needs of a girl, which is really more a negotiation issue and less an act of 'chivalry'.

What does it take out of your time or effort to do all the 'stereotypical' gentleman's acts? . . . Hardly nothing really . . .

In terms of negotiating with a girl. I think too many guys believe in 'fair play'. "Hey, I gave up, ___, ___, ___, and did ALL THIS CRAP for her, she ought to fucking give me ONE LITTLE THING!" The problem is . . . she doesn't value that one little thing as much as you do. That one little thing is only valuable to you.

I try to be a gentlemen only to people who I don't intend to game. There's nothing wrong with being seen as the nice guy by old ladies, ugly chicks and the like. But I make a point to be an asshole quite often.
