| Post subject: | Picking up younger girls |
I'm 42 and I tend to hang around with younger guys as most of my own aged friends are married and have difficulty finding the time to come out. We tend to go to bars and clubs where there are girls in their 20's to early thirties, and I just can't seem to gain rapport with them. Maybe I'm over analysing this, but whenever I strike up a conversation with a younger girl it just seems to go flat, or they don't get my sense of humour. When with women nearer my own age I seem to do really well most of the time. I do find intelligent girls (dorky types) very attractive and maybe I've just sort of answered my own question... maybe I need to stick to student pubs to find what I'm looking for, but is there a way I can learn to relate to most younger girls just to help my friends with picking them up ? Should I just try sticking to women my own age ? How do I get myself into the mindset of a younger person ? |

Well I cant give you any techniques of how to get in a younger mindset, what I would say is don't whatever you do don't try to change the way you think and speak to become like a younger person. Young women know that your older and this really shouldn't change their opinion of you, its simply how interesting they find you. Some things you may consider is making sure the topics you talk about can relate to a younger audience, but not too much or it will show that your trying to be 'down with the youth' which is what teachers often get wrong. Dress like an older man, speak like an older man. Remember if you feel uncomfortable trying to be younger, they will feel uncomfortable too. Hope this helped! BB1 |

Yes, interesting. Thanks. Having thought about it some more, I think I've been sticking with the same conversational topics which I use with older women ie: current affairs, politics, phylosophy ect... I feel a bit dumb now because yes, I can see this is all wrong ! LOL Also I know I don't feel confident with younger women for some reason. Lots of practice needed I think. |
