| Post subject: | Helping a friend |
Long time viewer, first time poster and can I just start out by saying thanks for all the help so far. There's a girl I know from college that keeps getting back together with one of her exes, now normally I wouldn't mind about something like that but this guy is borderline retarded, controlling (she says), regularly accused of cheating and the last time they broke up was because he said he wanted to be with other girls and she said that she wanted to be with me. Both me and my girlfriend want to slap some sense into her but don't know how to do it without driving her away. She's coming into town to see me in a few days and I was thinking of running a bf-destroyer on her but I was curious what you guys would do in this situation. I'll try to answer any questions you have. |

You have a girlfriend and she has a boyfriend? Let her make her own mistakes. If you see her as a friend then you can be frank with her but know that she will probably ignore you even if she sees the sense in it (and I'm sure she will). |

Yeah, she ended up breaking up with her boyfriend shortly after I got a girlfriend but before that everyone thought we were a couple because of all the 'flirting' (we didn't really see it as flirting, that's just how we are with each other).Let her make her own mistakes. If you see her as a friend then you can be frank with her but know that she will probably ignore you even if she sees the sense in it (and I'm sure she will). And I understand, I just wanted to stop her acting insane. |

I understand your motive, but I really don't think you can help. You will drive a wedge between you by trying to make her choose, and she will go with her heart because she's an emotional creature. She will probably tell you that you were right in 5 years, but that won't help today. Be there for her when she gets hurt, and the time after that, and the time after that. |
