Ok guys, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster and I'm from Ireland. This may seem long winded and over complicated but it's the only way for me to properly explain the problem and thus get the best possible answer. Here's my scenario:

So there's this girl I was really good friends with last year. She just spent the year studying abroad and is home catching up with friends before her exams. I went out tonight and met up with her but she was with some guy at the start of the night. I ran everything I learned in the last year (since i last saw her) and it seemed to work like a charm. By the end of the night she was talking with the guy she came with, but looking a me the whole time, refusing to kiss close with the other guy.

So the end of the night came to a close and this guy still had her in a heated discussion, still no kiss close. After about ten minutes (I know, too long in reality) of me kinda hovering with her friends and chatting with them (usual group theory stuff), I decided she wasn't worth all the waiting around and headed home. I dunno if she went home with that guy (which I doubt) or rejoined her friends. But, when i got home I got a text from her asking if I got home alright.

Ignoring all the possibly pointless info above, my question is this. What is the best way to continue gaming her from here. I'm gonna ignore the text for tonight and text her back in the morning saying "sorry, I was asleep etc..." but I dunno what direction to take with my reply.

I know this is quite a specific situational question, that's why I decided to ask and see what you guys thought. I'd appreciate any advice you guys could come up with before the morning. I'm off to bed. (4am here now)

Zed.

I'd just say, "yeah," and leave it at that. Don't apologize for being asleep.

Im still learning. But I agree with the poster above. I would say something to slag the guy off like, god youre ears must have been bleeding listening to that idiot all night, i felt bad for you.

BUT what i really want to know is, what did you learn? what tactics did you use to get her to look @ you if the other guy was hogging all her attention? please share, even if its brief.

I don't know about slagging the guy off, it might cause her to turn defensive on his behalf. Mentioning how 'lovely and charming' he is might be better.

Not mentioning him at all would be best. You were too busy meeting girls and making new friends to bother with her and her new dork, remember? If she brings him up, say something like, "Oh, yeah, he seemed cool," and then change the subject back to something YOU care about.

Demonstrating a strong opinion in regards to this dude will give off the impression that you've been thinking about him, and that you see him as a threat. Whether you describe him as "annoying" or "charming" is irrelevant. Indifference is the way to go.
