Just chiming in with a piece of advice...

Openers do not matter!

Thats right, openers do not matter so stop wasting so much time discussing and worrying about them.

You could litlery go up and open with "durrrrrrrrrrrr" and the set would open just fine if your coming from the right frame of mind.

Go up, say anything, it doesn't matter. Just start a conversation and dont put so much emphasis on openers.

Guys simply invent "super good openers" so they will have a confidence boost when opening women.

Its not what you say but how you open that matters.

I see a lot of talk on here about "what do I open with" so I felt the need to post this.

Having what you perceive to be a good opener can really boost your confidence though, which comes across well and is a very attractive quality for a guy to have. It's also good to know that you'll have some form of conversational pattern to follow, at least until it deviates into a proper conversation, by which point, you're okay anyway.
Don't get me wrong, I agree that you don't need anything superb but when I was just starting out, it really helped me beat my AA to have an opener.

I agree. If someone needs an opener at the beginning, thats understandable but I have known several guys on here who obsess over the "perfect, magical" opener for hours. Its not productive.

So while on the subject; being an AFC, would you recommend that I approach/start working on improving/having game by going alone? I don't have any wingmen.

Is there any benefit? Disadvantage? I'm all ears :)

Thanks

I have no wingmen and it's never stopped me, don't let the lack of a wingman stop you from approaching. Though, also remember that people don't always have to be consciously helping you to be helpful to you e.g. me and my friend were having a discussion, we disagreed and I noticed a couple of girls watching us so I roped them in to the discussion by asking their opinion on the matter. My friend wasn't winging for me but I saw an opportunity and took it.
