Post subject:  Good natural openers/routines for a newbie?

hi guys,

I'm currently travelling and need a few tips. When travelling, everyones opener is 'hi, what you doing, where you been etc etc'. i.e. all questions (which isn't good, i've done it and seen others try and you can see the boredom in the girls faces).

To get attraction you need to be different but I want to stay away from anything too weird/cheesy because lets face it, a lot of people have been exposed to pick up and know what you're doing when you walk up to a group and say 'hey guys i need your opinion, i have this friend blah blah'.

So what I'm after are a few good openers and one or two routines which I can learn that don't sound too forced/learned (but in actual fact are learned).

I'm not a newbie to reading about pick up and the psychology behind it but in terms of trying it out I guess I am as until recently I've been in a five year LTR. So, please guys...help me out!! Travelling is cool but as I'm only in each place for a couple of days maxiumum my game needs to be tight and it's much more fun if you can meet women!

Picking up girls is probably quite easy if I go out and get drunk enough but I'm after 7's and upwards which is a bit more difficult.

What good openers/routines can I learn? I want some canned stuff just to get me started and to alleviate any AA. Then when I'm better I can create my own stuff. Intrenet is expensive out here and my time is short so I don't have the luxury of being able to read through the forums. For that reason I'd really appreciate 2 or 3 natural sounding openers and some routines (preferably nothing cheesy like palm reading!) to keep the conversation going. I'm actually not too bad at opening but struggle to maintain interest (probably lack of confidence).

I'll be going out in Sydney next week sometime so am happy to post updates of any material given.

Thanks in advance!!

I am indeed a newbie too so not sure what advice of mine could help you (I assume you areon some kind of gap year or just taking time off to do a fair bit of travelling, which is an instant conversation starter with any HB) but it all depends on the scenario.

If it is anywhere in the DAYTIME then I guess, for example, if in a shopping district try asking for advice on good stores to buy clothes or other backpacking essentials. Trouble is, there is no perfect scripted routine that will work. I am afraid that you just have to be totally spontaneous and come up with something that is observational and relevant to the location. Unfortunately, I do not think anyone here can give good ideas for an opener yet. Unless of course you give detailed descriptions of the sort of locations where you have seen HB7+'s. Mind you, I am sure there will be some posters from Sydney or elsewhere in OZ that could give good pointers on best places to try.

But one thing I have learnt is after approaching introduce yourself and give a light handshake. That itself is technically a form of kino!
