Hi, I joined this forum in search for help on the subject of general social networking, You see, I"m a DJ, and in order to book potential gigs I need to be out at the club at least a couple nights a week talking to people and eventually getting in contact with a promoter/other dj's/ club owner's. In the past any gigs have come about through friend of a friend which has lead to meet one of the above mentioned. BUT, I cannot rely on this for ever and need some skills! Typical social networking rules don't really apply seeing as when I go to the club its not a pre determined networking event but just a bunch of people having fun! So I'm wanted to know if there were any good programs I could follow in order to develop the skills to talk to anyone/meet new/friends girls at the club/bar. I was looking into Real Social Dynamics, has anyone tried it out? Think it might potentially have what I'm looking for? Any other ideas? Any help much appreciated! |

Being a DJ already DHV's you from natural. You actual need to make sure that people make DHV's about you, your sets, your personality. The best way to this is to open your social circle like a madman. Address everyone. Just say "hi", smile and just turn around. Doesn't matter who. The more outgoing you are - the better it will get. Realise also that you need to vary your standard going out circle. Go out with different people. This way you'll get to know a lot more people and be able to be a lot more social proofed. ≠ LD |

Cool, I appreciate the response, thanks! Although, I guess part of the reason I'm looking for a program is so I can set actual goals. Turn around and "sayin hi" is fine, and can work with some peope, but for me, how else can u start? then what? I don't know what to do and I need to be able to set weekly goals in order to know that I'm moving forward/see progress, but right now I dont even know what to set? I could set a goal of approaching 50 ppl, but I dont know HOW to approach 50 ppl. Any thoughts |

How do you mean - you do not know how? Approaching somebody can be really easy. - You can make observational openers (what that person is doing, wearing, eating,...) - You can be direct (Hey, I would love to get to know you - Hey you look cute) - You can be normal (Hi, i'm ....) - You can be storytelling (Hey ... blaa blaa blaa.. my friend .. bla bla bla.. his gf...) - Use opinion openers (hey what do you think of the situation in Egypt?) There are many different types of approaches, these are just vocabulary ones. How to open a set with words. You can also do it with body language, but I guess in your case it would be harder.
