hey guys, i've done PU for a bit before quitting and now i'm getting back into it. I'm trying to go out and practice but i find that every time i open a set, right off the hop i sound like i'm trying to sell something. it is not just me who thinks this. i have had friends (who do not take part in this hobby) that tell me the same and after approaching and talking to them, say that it looked like they were laughing at me when i left when i seem confident in when i kept a good conversation going. i can't seem to get over this rough area in my game. any ideas? |

maybe ur giving the energy that ur trying to sell something. try to not look for anything in PU just conversation when u do that the target will feel more safe and that ur not trying to get anything from them. just normal PU try again not to give any energy that ur after something just tell DHV stories and do your thing. when u talk to them believe that's its just talking nothing more than that when u do that the target will feel the samething |

Nothing wrong with being a salesman. I get Christmas cards from many of my customers. A good salesman uses the same system as a good PUA. Sales has a set formula of 4 parts. 1. Meet and Greet. Salesman: "Hi how are you doing today. Anything I can help you with" PUA: "Hi can I quickly get your opinion on something...." You're just saying hi and opening them. 2. Qualify (you're qualifying them, not yourself) Salesman: "So are you two married?.....Brilliant! Have you got any kids?...What price range are you looking for?" PUA: "Wow, you don't often see 2 beautiful girls without their boyfriends in a club. I know it's a cheeky question, but are you two an item?" (say it cheeky, or you will get slapped!) You're seeing what they think they are looking for, and what they are really looking for. 3. Demonstrate Value Salesman: "This has been awarded car of the year for 3 years straight" PUA: Whatever routines/techniques you prefer. 4. Close Salesman: "So we have a deal. Sign here, here, here, and initial here." PUA: You decide how you want to close. A quick hint, if your parents would be shocked at you, you've probably closed. Self explanatory. All the way through you need to build comfort and raport. Without that, you're a creep! With it you're either a great PUA, or a rich salesman haha. |

Sounds like you're going into your interactions with an agenda. If your goal going out is to "pick up chicks" then generally they will be able to smell that from a long way away, and you'll have a lot less success. Instead, try going out with the view to just have FUN! Have a great time with your friends, share some jokes, and then when you're in a social mood and having a laugh, then open some sets nearby, get them in on the joke, ask them their opinion about the thing you guys were talking about, or just straight up say they look fun and you wanted to come say hi. Whatever works. But do it from a position that is not outcome oriented and where they've already seen you having a good time, and your open and hook rate should improve. |

i agree, sales and pick up are very similar. i sold cars, double glazing, and other home improvements. and it is definitely a boost for your career as well as your pick up. almost all the skills are transferrable bk and forwards. im proud to be a sales proffessional too. and have had many cards, presents, bottles of whisky etc from customers! hav lost my license SPAM so working in sales at a call centre for a big media company (the pay is still good thankfully) and they are big on NLP, they are putting me on a course for NLP in sales (principles are all the same tho) cos i mentioned i had read a book on it. paid to learn pick up? who would have thought! lol. |
