| Post subject: | Need some expert advice: Multiple sets |
As per the subject, what's the advisability of opening multiple sets in the same venue? To be more specific, I'm stuck in a town with no clubs and only few cool bars, people know each other, and the whole PU thing will look suspect (see below). Scenario: I am at a bar, open a set, work great midgame but decide not to close because the night is young. Then, I open another set or two. From here on, I've had two different expriences: 1) All sets get extremely bitchy and hateful, 2) I can close any of them with no effort. Generally though, once I open a set, I can't talk to another without the first getting rather upset if they see it. My problem is that once I see an HB8.5+, I am going to open her. Actually had a chat about it with a friend of target tonight. Her 2 cents: I give off the vibe as the guy who will go home with a girl, and it might be any of the ones I chat up. But according to her, girls around here want to feel special, and they measure special by attention from guys. So, my million dollar question: Should I succumb to an awful local culture and surrender myself to the first decent target I see. Or am I doing something wrong that keeps me from entertaining several options until I pick the one for the night? I'm really a bit at a loss here, since having options and conversing with everyone at the place is generally DHV... |

1. Why eject from a set that's going well for the possibility of a better one in the future? If there's an HB you like, why not push the interaction as far as possible? 2. What kind of openers are you using? If you're using the same opinion opener on every set, that could backfire. 3. Have you tried merging sets? 4. The "feeling special" part that negates a player vibe and cuts down LMR is qualification and comfort building. Focus on finding out aspects of the girl's character that you value and compliment her on them. Always follow an IOI with a little IOD so a compliment doesn't hang in the air awkwardly. |

Thanks, great thoughts. 1. For any number of reasons: to go back to my friends, because I see someone I want to talk to, because it's early in the night and my/her friends are moving on to another venue, because until there's someone better I game HBs I won't FC... But I see your point, just never considered rushing myself before I felt like closing. The whole process of the game's too fun! 2. I never use the same opener twice. I either use situational openers ("Have you no friends?" if she's alone for a second, or "at least try to hide it" if she looks bored for a second) or something C&F that comes to mind spontaneously. 3. Great idea! 4. Think that will help, or just heighten the sense of betrayal? I tend to have good conversation with some substance. I try to talk about mutual interests/passions, but also neg a little to tease and keep it fun. |

i think there is something (a sticking point) in your game that is making sets turn bitchy, and i don't think it is because of your success with other girls. it might be as simple as your reaction when they confront (shit test) you. also, make sure you are giving value in the interaction and truly making people feel good. if you are not then you are going to come off as someone who is just taking for himself. |
