question about being funny

Post subject:  question about being funny
i think im too funny, im not gloating or trying to get everyone thinking that im big headed or cocky.

but i always get told im funny, really funny quiet a lot.

the thing is i never really mean to be funny other than amuse myself, although when i am trying to make people laugh, like a girl, it goes badly or feels bad anyway to myself.

but although i have lots of issues in game and it could well be that this is my GOOD part, i think being the funny seems to make some kind of connection with a girl or guy but also put up a wall, i feel like i lose some dominance and leadership qualities,

like i cant be a leader because im always the joker. Recently i have been trying to be more dominant and serious in situations like in class when in a group i try and take control even if i dont know shit about the subject ill just try and get everyone in order and something done. still having troubles understanding when your being alpha or that annoying guy who's being a control freak and just trying to lead (really annoying person).

i mean i dont really want to lose my humour but the teacher did call me the class clown the other day because i made some rustling with my eye brows at her, i wasnt sure if she was just trying to say it to put me down as she might see me as an alpha or because she actually thinks im a clown (she likes to be the one cracking jokes and doesnt like that im a bit more rebelious than the rest of the class).

im 19 btw, this isnt school we are talking about, its college. Also i wonder if its just my 'breaking rapport' humour, looking back i always think doing that kinda humour isnt that good unless i have a genuine reason to break rapport.

im just wondering about opinions on humour. maybe this is a stupid question and in the wrong section but a link to any old post about this would be great.

a few things i will say about my passed sexual life, is that my last (only) girlfriend said she liked me because i was funny (someone said thats what she said). but most women i think ive gotten with were never me being TOO funny really.

it might help to note that although i can be funny, im not too good to hold on a conversation as im always confused if what ive got to say is really that interesting (does anyone care that ive watched a jackie chan film everyday for past week and more?) im just saying as much things as possible that might affect the question im asking.

i can never find any old posts about things i like on this forum :P so forgive me if this kinda thing has been covered.

Ok I know your problems already.

You state you are funny. That is a good trait but then you'll just come off as a friends zone kind of person. Some people actually really hate those kids who try to act too funny and it comes off as insecure or goofy.

You are funny that is good. You will make the girl laugh. Now you need to add cocky. That will show you are more alpha and dominant, which you even stated that you lack.

However, if you are just cocky and not funny, you come off as arrogant. See how you NEED both inorder to make a good combination?? And never laugh at ur own jokes.
