Post subject:  Seemingly successfu pickup goes wrong - can't figure out why
Bulgarian Sea resort - walking along the beach and getting ready to leave, I spot 2 blond girls getting up and going to swim. Immediately positioned my towel 3 meters apart from their towels, take out my sketchbook and pencils and start sketching (I work on a project + usually girls notice and ask me what I draw). The 2 come back, sit down and start playing cards. I wait 2 min (figuring out I have to use Russian language to approach), then approached them, and as I couldn't say straight away which one I like more, I opened with "Excuse me, I'm working on my project over there and have to hand it in by the end of the month, but in the last 5 min I just couldn't get my eyes off the 2 of you... you seem friendly and I wanted to come and make friends with you". Turns out they're Belarusian, one is HB10, the other's HB7. I asked them about what they're doing when they return to Minsk. The 10 tells me she's studying Management, and I inserted the Gambler's flirt line "What?! Why don't you just leave all that and just become a model instead". I try to delve into their choises of major and what they desire doing, while at the same time attempting to keep them both equally engaged in the conversation. I joke with them time and again, the 10 laughs, the 7 keeps a smiling, but nervous face. Another thing I noticed - the 10 speaks fast and excited, the 7 sounds more nervous. But all in all they had forgotten about their card game for full 10-15 min while we talked. Then I asked them to teach me their card game, and eventually we play together. I mention there's a cool, must-visit Aquapark in the resort and I know someone, who can get us in at half price. They say nothing (btw they've been partying in the disco clubs most of their holiday here). I did the Mehow's Psychic connection test on them - they laughed after we did it... anyway we finished the game and the 7 sayt they have to go to lunch. I ask them is there a way we can keep in touch, as I'd like to see them later. They say they'll be on the same spot in the afternoon

(All in all - seemed a good interaction to me, my only worry was that they didn't ask me any questions other than "Where're you from" to which I responded "take a wild guess". They liked it that I talked to them in Russian, cause usually they have to talk in English with people here. btw in that moment I told them how I learned Russian - while I was in USA I met a Russian girl and we had a short romance, and I volunteered to learn Russian... she helped me... but because I had a girlfriend in Bulgaria at that time, I didn't wanna move into anything closer than a passionate friendship. When I returned to Bulgaria, I found out that my gf had left me for someone else - and even though I remanined empty handed, I now can speak Russian)

In the afternoon, I go to where we arranged to meet. I saw a group oe 5 girls, and 2 of them slightly reminded me of those 2. Assuming it was them, I went up and asked them "How's it going" They turned out to be Russian-speaking as well. But they acted aloof and I thought they're just playing games on me, so I took out a small water gun and squirted both of them, saying "Don't act like you don't know me"... It was when all 5 got up and started yelling at me, that I realized these 2 were not the 2 I had met. Funny story though. Anyway, I found the 2 girls about 50 meters away from that area, playing cards. Went in and reopened them telling them what just happened to me (while at the same time positioning my towel next to theirs). The 10 laughed, while the 7 still looked nervous. THEN, without saying a word, the 10 turns to the 7 and both of them keep on their game, totally isolating me. I tryed to reengage them, but they hardly responded. I stayed for a while and left, when they were also leaving. Tryed to set up a meeting, for later, but they acted totally disinterested

What could've gone wrong here?

Did you actually try to figure out why that 7 was so nervous?

Indeed the 7 wasn't so nervous at the beginning... I grabbed her attention and was making her laugh. I said she looked nervous because she wan't laughing from like the 10-th minute on. her smile then began looking forced and ingenuine.
But she showed interest in the conversation the whole time (before lunch that is). After our card game, the 7 said to the 10 they need to go to lunch and WITH THAT switched to frigid mode. I then inserted an opinion opener, as they were folding their towels
"Do you believe a beach romance can turn into a serious relationship... cause a friend of mine met that Russian girl a week ago and called me this morning to tell me he's about to propose to her... what do you think" my idea was to warm them up a bit more. The 10 was eager to give advice, but the 7 showed ignorance. I threw some other hooks, like "Do you guys like playing ballgames... volleyball" the 7 looked in a rush to leave, while the 10 would turn and respond to me.

From what I gather, it seems like you were trying too hard.

And you probably shouldn't have told them the story about you mistaking some other two girls for them and squirted them with a water gun when they said they didn't know you. Sounds creepy.

Did you neg them it all?

Perhaps you gave too much attention to the 10. She seemed receptive, and during your flirting, the 7 probably felt left out.

Then later, she probably told the 10 how creepy she thought you were and got her onto her side. This would explain the subsequent freeze-out.

I know its MM, which everyone hates, but you really do need to pay more attention to the less attractive one. They are the gatekeepers, and when they aren't happy, nobody gets laid. Or next time, bring a buddy with you. That way he can distract the other chick.

Indeed I was keeping the attention 50/50. I'm aware of the jealous friend obstacle. Do you think I should've payed more attention tho the 7 and ignore the 10?

btw I did neg the 10 about 2-3 times, but didn't neg the 7

I'd keep it at something like 40/60. And I would have negged the 7. Women respond to negs because its playful and flirtatious. So spread that around.

maybe or maybe not but the story killed it. made you look creepy, plus you seemed too interested.
