Your mind is your problem and then only way to change it is to force positive thoughts out. If you have negative thoughts, you'll feel bad, depressed, lonely, etc. Remember that your mind is the most powerful tool you have. Your thoughts determine how you feel, act, and who you are. Start thinking positively if you want anything to change. There's no advice in the world that can teach you to just pull yourself out of depression, you have to do it yourself and it takes a lot of work. I think it does help to challenge yourself in new ways though. Like learning to play an instrument, or focusing on your career or something of that sort. Set short-term / long-term goals for yourself and focus on achieving them. |

Sometimes things can be reasoned out logically in ones mind, and sadness can be alleviated that way. But sometimes it can't. If you are losing interest in interacting socially and feel physically tired from you depression, you might want to see a professional about that. You could have something like atypical depression. Which is fixed usually by balancing the chemicals in your brain that control pleasure. Also as for the drugs and alcohol thing. A lot of people with depression, try to medicate them selves with drugs and alcohol. Alcohol affects a lot of the same areas of the brain that certain anti-depressants do. And certain drugs do as well, for instance stimulant drugs like coke boost norepinephrine, and pot can boost dopamine. |

about 4-5 months ago i was in a real bad way... and i think i was probably feeling the same way as you... i saw a psyc and they really didnt help, i mean it was almost more frustrating coz all i did was talk and never got any feedback besides "this is good... tell me more... times up see you next week" truth be told i never went back... i found myself a sort of father figure who snapped me back to reality and gave me a bunch of positive things to think about and that has helped unbelievably. as dumb as it sounds... or mayb as harsh as it sounds... you wont get that energy unless you force yourself to do something about it... i dont know what kind of exercise you like doing (my thing was weights and running) but do a bit and the next day a bit more and you'll quickly see a turn around... also SHAVE, iron your clothes... all those kind of little things will really help too |
