I was out and went to an after-party type thing at a pool.... When my friend got there I was talking with him about how not many people were there yet, and somewhere in there I said "Heather's here" (Heather was a 9 that we had met the previous weekend that was friends with my roommates girlfriend). When she heard me say this she said "aww you remembered my name... that's cute".

This seems to lower my value, raise hers, and make me look like I'm just some kid that remembered her because shes hot. In actuality this is pretty much true, so next time I will probably intentionally "forget" her name but show that I remember her friends' names.

My response was "well I hadn't been drinking much ... usually i'm bad with that".

I don't think this was a good response (in fact it doesn't really do anything good for me, but it was the best I could do on the spot). What do you guys think I should have done / said when she said that?

Not really.

Thats not a good neg. Thats a comeback in the form of an insult. The mentality you give off is "She hurt me so I will hurt her back". Thats not the mentality of the alpha male, thats the mentality of a little child who wanna get back at some other kid who made fun of his new teddybear.

An alpha male does not need to have comebacks, he doesnt even need to worry himself about shit like that. Let the baby play.

Any "Awww, that's cute" comment can be followed up with an arrogant "Yeah, I know" along with enough swagger to give the impression you think you're god's gift, then a wink-and-a-smile to let them know you're just playing along.

You're supposed to be the life of the party....act like it. Don't take yourself so seriously that you feel like you have to counter every little neg.

Interesting comments....

I gave this some thought a couple days ago and my realization was this: "why did I feel the immediate need to respond to her?"

Basically by responding at all to it I look defensive and insecure, admittedly only slightly, but it is still working against me for sure. Saying anything at all here makes it look like I care what she said, and if I were to neg her here it would have to be really, really good.

I agree that the 'retarded girls' neg is over the top, its not even really a neg... it's a face-value insult. A neg cannot be overt like that, that's not what a neg is.

My conclusion is that I should not say anything at all here and in fact my best response would have been to fully ignore (i.e. not pause for a moment in my conversation with the others). This way it looks like she isn't important enough for me to hear her.

if you're very confident and want to play the "cool" role you could've said I always remember pretty girls then ignore her for like an hour at the get together. I think what you said is ok kinda funny. Pretty good considering that wasn't forethought. But I think you've figured out your answer yourself and I think Royal is right also.[/quote]
