Post subject:  Gaming in a small town/city

I live in a small city (population is roughly 50,000.) I've noticed that most of the material available comes from PUA's who live in large cities (i.e. LA, New York, Chicago, etc.) and game in these cities. The nearest "large" city, from where I live, is 200 miles away.

It seems that most of the material out there, the experts say to talk, talk, talk. Find as many different women as you can and talk to them. Practice your game by talking to everyone.

Here's the problem: In a smaller city, if you blow a set, chances are they will know someone in the next couple of sets and that will ruin your game faster than trying to pick up the only girl in a PUA convention. On top of that, we are very limited on our venues and places to game at.

Has anyone else been in this situation, or is currently? Should I just game, game, game and hop that blown sets don't ruin my game? Any insight on this would be great! Thanks guys!

It's tough, I'd say you play safe in your home town. Because if you blow a few set and you come off as a douchebag, sooner or later their friends will know and will limit other sets for you to open.

Because in a small town like that, people always know you somehow and will automaticly already have a first impression of you and think they will know how you are.

So, go out to bigger towns, practise your game there. Game in your hometown aswell, but don't experiment or take big risks.

You will also create a DHV by not going out in your hometown alot, then these people who go out in your town, won't see you EVERY SATURDAY. So they will have a different tought about you.
You will also meet alot of people from other towns, wich will make your outgoing scene alot more interesting, for yourself ánd others.

And when you create a good rep in your hometown, the fact that people will somehow know you and one way or another will think they know you, will be in your advantage.
So your result: easyer game in your home town, chick will come to you.

I used to go out to the bar as much as 5 or 6 nights a week back when I lived in a bigish city (1 million people), but now I'm in a much smaller town (about 80 thousand if you include all the adjoining towns/cities/villages...heh, villages). I rarely go out, but when I do, I make it count.

I dress well, but not so well that I look completely out of place in this style deprived hole. I make sure that I don't go around talking to every set, because then I end up spending my time with a few groups or certain people and it becomes a matter of quality vs. quantity. You don't have a lot of selection so you may not even want to approach your top picks right away, because if you do and you fail, you may not get a second chance; whereas if you start a little lower down on the ladder, you can always work your way up and even use that as a reputation boost in many cases.

You don't even have to be dressed well or that well groomed in small towns though because usually fashion is lacking, as it is in my crappy town that doesn't even have a real club or half decent bar. Most people won't know style if you smack them with it, so instead try to stay within the bounds of what other people would wear, while still trying to stand out and be original (your goal is to look cool, not like an attraction at an amusement park). I can't even wear half of my clothes anymore because around here, the person that I am wouldn't be able to wear nice clothes even due to societal mindsets. If you feel comfortable, are moderately clean and don't stink, then you're probably fine though. I went out tonight after getting off work, my work shirt was wet from washing dishes and there were splatters of food from the past 2 days and bleach and pizza stains, but I didn't stink and I shaved a couple days ago, so I had no problem getting the number of a girl that I had met a few days before at her job.

Thanks for the input!

Agreeing with zendelo, people always do seem to know me. But I guess when you happen to run into the same people 3 or 4 times in one week, that kinda happens.

I also like the possible DHV. I never thought of it that way, but thinking about it, it's like going to an extremely small town (village  creds to Rye Lee), where as soon as you step foot in their only watering hole, they are automatically attracted based purely on the fact that your "fresh meat." (Luckily there are a few of these towns in close proximity.)

"You don't even have to be dressed well or that well groomed in small towns though because usually fashion is lacking, as it is in my crappy town that doesn't even have a real club or half decent bar."
I couldn't have said it any better. Everyone here is sooo bent on fox/no fear/quicksilver/etc., etc. or a stripped button up that I have actually dulled my style down. I can go into a bar here in just a white t-shirt and jeans and do much better than with the "standard" here.

Once again, thanks guys.
