I have a habit of playing my friends XBox360 in his room while he is working, and a week or two ago I got fed up with a game I was playing (mine), a game which had frustrated me for weeks so I calmly took the disc out, and cut it in half with some scissors as I was just fed up with up. It was very calmly done, no throwing or screaming or anything! However, since then, this friend has been taking the piss every time I express any form of frustration or annoyance, and also with no prompting, with phrases such as "grrr... angry", "ooh are you getting angry [name]?", "do you want to play [game]? oh no, wait.." "don't get angry [name]" etc.etc. Talking or responding just results in him repeating the phrase or another one from his repertoire, and he seems to find it funny while I don't, its just childish and annoying. It's like he is just trying to 1-up for some reason (and it seems to be working as I have no way to respond), is this amoging? It's normally just the two of us in the room - and I don't want to refuse to play games in their without a good reason as then it would just look like I'm overreacting. How would you guys respond? |

First of all you should never have told him about it in the first place... Anyway that's in the past. I have dealt with people who take a joke too far, or should I say I have experience of it. You are correct, it is extremely annoying. Here are 3 possible options you could try: 1) Let him know that it's beginning to annoy you. Say that the joke has gone too far now, although, you are leaving yourself open to even more abuse (it sounds like he would take advantage of you saying this.) 2) Find out something about him or if you already know something about him annoy him about this till he quits it. However, this could lead to the end of your friendship. 3) Put up with it and hope that he stops it sometime soon. You have to realise it is you that got yourself into this predicament though, there may be no easy solution to this i.e grin and bear it or end the friendship. |

It was an incredibly frustrating yet addictive game. It had got to the point where I wasn't even enjoying playing anymore, but had invested so much time part of me felt I should continue playing to complete it, even though it was just stressing me out. Cutting up the disc was the best way to ensure I wouldn't keep wasting my time getting more and more stressed with it.Anyway, thats beside the point. |
