Post subject:  How can i get away from this image?

Hey guys. Im completely new to this forum and the whole art of PUA. Im running into this problem starting out though. I go to college in DC and i'm a somewhat shy guy but i don't dress badly. I wear nice clothes (and i'm in no way bragging told word-for-word from people, "can pull off anything" *this always stems to a joke as well) (I wear a lot of things guys don't often wear like button downs alot and sweatervest ect.) but people continuously like to joke and say that i look like a tool. Why would this be and how can I stop that image or use it to my advantage? Im not a super confident guy because i used to weight alot and even though i'm not overweight anymore i still have that image in my head. I know this is something i have to work on but the tool thing i think is pushing girls away when they first see me or just think before meeting me i'm an ass. Girls tell me i look good but the tool thing comes up all the time. Im a nice guy and I don't want to be looked at or considered a tool. If anyone can help much appreciated.

Thanks-
David

I am guessing the people calling you a tool are guys. If so then who gives a shit what they think unless your gay and looking for men which you are obvious not. If chicks are saying you look good/hot/whatever then no need to change.
People usually dress the way there friends think is the normal way to dress and half the time that way has no style.

Read the Natural Game if you wan't to learn more about style, there is a small section at the start explaining everything.

Sweaterwest sounds toolish. Sorry, but it's the truth. Get in the gym and lift some heavy weights and wear t-shirts, shirts and jeans.

I think you need to toughen up.

If you like wearing sweater vest, I don't why you have to change that for some jerks.

You can wear them with more style like this :

Also when you wear something, be proud!! If you don't feel confortable when you walk, people will see that. Even if you wear the stupidiest thing ever, if you walk with no shame and a big smile, no one will comments you.

Work on your inner game, it will helps you have a good vibe arround you. :)

Yeah man that is totally how I wear them its just I get some people saying "ooh look out here come Dave.... looking so fly (sarcastic)" and then "Your looking a little toolish David" and then girls just laugh. Im not saying im being a bitch about this I just don't want that image as much because i feel like when girls look at me they are thinking that i'm some tool and stray away.

I agree man on the toughen up. I really do need to start going to the gym more. I lost alot of weight doing it and then just stopped and never toned up. I don't agree so much on the just t-shirts, jeans and shirts idea. I think thats a little to basic. I mean if you look at the link from the other comment you can see how I wear them. Your right on the workout thing though.

Maybe don't dress the way your dressing? Try just a long sleeve and jeans like most normal people lol. I used to wear tight "flashy" muscle shirts all the time and I had a gay image so to speak, although girls told me the second they talked to me it was obvious I wasn't because of the way I presented myself. So try just normal cloths you see all your guy friends with girlfriends wear.
The thing about that is why? kinda of a waste eh? i mean the whole point of peacocking is to show that you are different. I wore those regular clothes for ever and now i have a sense of style putting clothes together and what not. Im not wearing any type of tight muscle shirts its more just button downs, regular plain t-shirts, name brand T's (like johnny cupcake or what not), and then some nice jeans.

Read "the game" from styles he didn't start peacocking till his game was quite good, I'm assuming that yours is not quite as developed.
yeah i've read it. One of the first things that mystery has them do though is get a sense of style and look good. Especially when he first met them all. Im not flaunting any type of crazy outfit.

I agree that you should hit the gym. Not so much to change your physique though, but to change how you feel about yourself. I've recently started working out again, and although the visible differences are minimal, I've felt an almost immediate gain in confidence.

And that's what it's about; confidence. It's very little to do with what you wear, it's how you pull it off. If you're even slightly unsure about yourself, people will pick up on it instantly.

Work on your inner game and getting a strong frame, and rock those sweater vests.
