Any advice on how to politely inform a HB that you are not prepared to buy all her drinks while you are hanging out? I'm not mean, I just dont believe its appropriate to be spending excess money on a girl I'm not in a relationship with, I'd feel like less of a chump if we were doing rounds. I was thinking of just telling her outright (in a slightly jokey way of course) to buy me a drink, when its her round Thanks |

Frame it in such a way that there is no expectation of who is paying for whom. Spending money isn't a big deal, but you aren't obligated, either. If it's on a Day 2 or later, say something like "SINCE I'm a gentleman, I'll pick up the first round." If you just met her, get her to buy you a drink. Pull her into the frame that women buy drinks for you, not the other way around. Play Style's Five Lies game. Make a "bet" with her. Etc... |

I agree with Royalty. I would say something like 'I'll buy the first round if you buy the second round', in a cocky/funny manner. Believe it or not, some girls go out on dates just to get a free meal/drink ticket, then say they have something planned after the date. Whenever a girl tells me that they have plans after a date, I end it right there...They do not pass GO and will not collect $200. You have to keep control of the situation. If not, they will shit test you all night and walk all over you and then you end up $60-$150 less. Best, J-Dub |

off course you're not mean, actually it's quite unfair if YOU will be the only one payingQuote: SINCE I'm a gentleman, I'll pick up the first round
That's a perfect linefurthermore, I would set the frame in the first lace that this is not a "formal date", were just 2 people hanging together, which means we share the outcome of the bill as well as anything |

On dates it is ok to buy drinks just say something like "I'll grab the first round", if she later says I am going to get a drink straight out say "could you grab me a beer?" she won't say no. As for a girl you have just met I just say " I don't buy women drinks, other guys do but I see it as an attempt to buy affection ... isn't that prostitution?". They won't ask after that. Another thing I used to rock out which works amazingly well is "nope I won't buy you a drink but I am sure one of these other saps will, how about that guy?" |

Those are some pretty good lines JayBot..As for a girl you have just met I just say " I don't buy women drinks, other guys do but I see it as an attempt to buy affection ... isn't that prostitution?". They won't ask after that. Another thing I used to rock out which works amazingly well is "nope I won't buy you a drink but I am sure one of these other saps will, how about that guy?" Best! J-Dub |
