Post subject:  Video gaming...

This goes out to any aspiring PUA or those that have casually come across this site looking for tips on 'how to get a girlfriend' who are still gamers . I don't mean ya run o the mill wii thrashers. I mean ya hardcore gamer that believes it is more important to play an online game than go out and socialize. Do I sound passionate about this? HELL YES! That use to be me, biggest waste of my life ever! Now I understand that there are some people that play games and still do ok with the chicks but in my opinion it's a small percentage of gamers. Seriously drop that shit and get out there asap!

P.S. I'm venting on this site because I recently learned first hand that it is not a good idea to vent (complain) to a target.

I too use to be on of those types of players. Over the last few months everything has been more social. And if I do happen to be playing a game and I get an invite to go do something I almost always drop the game. Unless I really don't care about socializing with her.

There are actually videos where girls destroy their BF's consoles because they do not pay enough attention to them. Now I think I can understand their situation but its certainly not the right way to go about venting frustration. On the other hand I don't friggin understand why dudes would neglect their girls over video games when you cannot have sex with a game.

Although I would like to get a HB involved in playing Rez with the the trance vibrator.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v31qxrXsxv0 I bought wii fit for this reason then threw a BBQ and got HB's to play it.

I used to play world of warcraft, pretty much lost a lot of time to that. about 2 years ago I finally said: fuck this and I destroyed my cd's and sold my account.

I have an xbox360 now that I sometimes play but mostly with friends, before going to the city while drinking.

I have some friends that are still stuck in their "i just wanna play vidya gaemz" mindset and its really shit because they could be having fun dating and gaming chicks but instead they game their xbox.

Just dont ever play MMORPG's they will kill your social life :P

The important thing is balance, always and in everything. You can spend too much time gaming chicks as well. You may have just traded one addiction for another. Perhaps this is also satisfying, but you may look back one day and consider all the time partying as wasted too.

Frankly, anything that doesn't result in statues of you being put up and getting your name in the history books is wasted time. Nothing else will last. The important part is to enjoy it.

Haha no I know that, but I just destroyed them as my first step to quitting :P

Right now I'm not addicted to anything, and the time I spend going out now with friends and drinking having fun and picking up a girl every now and then, just makes me so much happier than when I was playing vidya gaemz. Sure I'm 'wasting' time and money but at least I'm having way more fun this time :D

I used to be a manager of a video game store. Honestly, in my earlier AFC days (ha, I still am one.) I would see these kids/guys/students just come in, and I stopped playing games for the sole reason that I wanted nothing to do with these people. I was afraid gaming would make me into them.

Since then I have met some really cool people, who are just socially inclined, and are the most wonderful people to be around. To intentionally poison yourself by engaging in an introverted activity such as video gaming is mind boggling to me. The financial investment I don't understand either. If you want some alone time to relax I say toss on a trance/downtempo CD and read a friggin' self help book.

note: I didn't read the earlier posts so I don't even know if this related to anything you guys have been saying.

So you feel superior to those that went into your store? Talk about sounding like a jerk. Sorry, but working at a video game store pretty much places you in the lower 5% of society.

Maybe, but some gamers are in the lower 4%. ;)

Seriously though expat, trance? Ugh. I'd rather stare off into space!

Used to play World of warcraft to exclusion of all else for about two years, ended spending about 120hours+ a week for a good 6months towards the end (top raiding guild + Grand Master PvP at same time for those in the know will understand).

Then i got a full time job and couldn't play as much and suddenly realised what a waste of time it was compared to going out and having a good time. While it has left me with a very strong aversion to any form of commitment when it comes to playing a game unfortunately i can't say the severe damage it did to my social life has come close to being repaired yet.

I personally don't give a fuck whether you play video games; Pick up is picking up members of the opposite sex, whatever you do outside of that doesn't really matter unless it is deteriating your life.

Relax about this stuff.

I don't know where you derived the idea that I feel superior to those people, but simply I don't want to be like them. I'd rather be sociable and possess qualities that other people find commendable.

And I don't want to do it, but I gotta call you out on that post. You can't accuse me of being conceited and then tell me That my former job was in the bottom 5% of society... even if you are right :D :D
