I'm in a band. A pretty good band too, I think. We did a gig on Saturday night, and after it this girl got someone I sort of know to introduce herself to me. She said we were great etc and all I really managed was a tiny bit of small talk (where I was concentrating as hard as I could to keep my posture etc good and to act more confident than I really am [on stage I'm comfortable and have all the confidence in the world, but with new people I have very little!]) and then I had to run off to get all my gear back to the green room. After that I'd notice her looking at me a lot, and whenever I looked back I'd hold eye contact and she'd quickly look away. I knew that I should be approaching her, even to just tell her we were doing another gig the next weekend and that she should come along, but I never had the balls. I realise in these sort of situations I'm in the perfect environment for PUA work, and I've read a lot of stuff and don't think I'm the AFC that I used to be at all, I just still don't manage to pick up because of my AA and always taking the easy way out (just getting totally wrecked instead!). Any tips for overcoming this? |

I think you should start with facing your fears, getting rid of your AA...read up a lot on the subject and do the exercises (approaching women at daytime in a mall or just saying hi to everyone you see etc). In the situation you described, what was the big deal? she already opened and you could have gone back to her and say like "i wasnt done with you yet" in a cocky/funny way. Going back to her might seem AFC (but not to her), but she didnt come back to you right? |

Yeah, I think AA is really the only thing holding me back. Back when I was 17 or so I had no issues with it at all, not sure what happened to be honest. I'll read up on it a bit and try some exercises, are there any in particular that start off slow (baby steps!) which worked really well for anyone here? |
