Feeling a little philosophical today. Almost any PUA will mention the word "value" in numerous contexts when talking about game. Being "high value" or "displaying higher value" is good, being "low value" or "displaying lower value" is bad. "Giving value" is good, "taking value" is bad. But what IS this thing "value"? Is it being around attractive women, having a fun and interesting story, being confident, all of the above or 100 other things? I was watching an El Topo lecture (I'd recommend him if you're interested natural game at all) and he said he'll go in and, almost directly after opening, or maybe even as part of his opener, mention something about not graduating from high school, or some other weakness or failing. This screams "HUGE DLV" to most PUAs, but he uses it to his advantage by getting the girl to immediately open up about herself. This got me thinking that we need to clarify exactly what value, let alone what DHV or DLV, really means. |

I guess in the context of being 'high value' and 'displaying higher value,' it the mentality of you being the prize, and you being the one that is being sought after, that you have better things to do in your life, so basically, it's you having the traits which are deemed 'attractive.' Everyone has a different way to phrase the traits, and a different impression of what the traits are, and in my opinion - it changes from person to person. Being 'high value' is displaying the BEST possible version of yourself, and being the BEST possible version of yourself, and low value is the inverse. In relation to El Topo, the idea's of DLVing and DHVing come from MM, in which it was suggested to almost routinize these things as an attempt to make yourself seem like you have attractive traits that you may not actually have. El Topo would present the best possible version of himself, and that doesn't include lying about not graduating high school, or hiding from the things that society deems 'wrong,' and by doing so, demonstrates his confidence, and his acceptance of himself. The idea of "Giving Value" is similar to that of qualifying someone, and comes from the idea of "Giving Love" in which you just try to make everyone around you as happy as possible. Similar to this, "Taking Value" is using other people to make yourself feel better, and putting other people down to make yourself feel and seem better in contrast to. |

this is called reciprocation. it is similar to asking her to tell you a secret, she will normally tell you to go first..you tell her how you were a chess geek in junior school....but whisper it to her conveying that no-one else knows this about you except her. all of a sudden she feels a lot closer to you, she now knows a 'special' secret about you, it is a connection. she will then feel compelled to do the same. its a great way of building rapport/confort.in terms of what high value is? in the world of pick up, i would say it is ANY trait that creates attraction. |

I didn't have much of a clue what 'value' concerning content ment. For me offering value is making sure other people are having a nice time around me, giving HONEST compliments, being fun.Not dancing monkey style entertainment, that's doing it wrong, It's mostly self-entertainment. I enjoy it, others enjoy it. Instead of going around with half a cup of water asking for more. Unreactiveness and self-entertainment are huge. |
