| Post subject: | Handshakes |
since forever, ive thought shaking hands with a girl is a completely awkward thing to do, unless you have a purely business relationship with them. at parties, ive noticed some guys (including friends of mine) shake a girls hand after exchanging names. and shake the target's girl friends hands when saying hi and bye. I dont know why I am so against this, but I choose to never shake girls hands at parties, unless im showing her a secret handshake or something saying bye to her friends is usually a wave or simply saying see you later without shaking hands. I hug girls sometimes and say handshakes are for strangers. Do you guys agree/disagree? PS i think shaking hands with guys is totally normal no matter how long/short a time youve known them |

Heh, this is kind of funny regarding handshakes. I was at a bar a couple weeks ago with one of my friends, I was talking to this hot bartender, asked for her number (I honestly laugh at myself for trying...), she said she had a b/f, and afterwards I was like "Well at least I tried" and got a handshake out of it.....oh well.. |

Thanks man Im gona use that I'll say...'anyway i better get back to my friends. and seeing as handshakes are for strangers, tonight you get a biiiiig hug'. and go in for it immediately. implies you have a connection and now 'know each other' (ie. youre not strangers), plus youre leaving on a high kino note. good stuff. |

I can tell you that here in Denmark, I rarely give nor see other people giving eachother handshakes at crowded bars or clubs.. If you for example get introduced to a girl by a friend of yours at a club, all that people gives back is a : Hello nice to meat you. But however, when the night has ended at you and the girl are one of the last people to leave, you STILL get a hug from the girl.. eventhough you actually haven't talked the entire night, other then at the time when you got introduced.. But in person, I dont give handshakes at bar, clubs or parties..ONLY if they want to give it too me.. |

I do handshake. It's only as awkward as you make it. I usually do a kiss on either cheek to say goodbye, and once I know a girl I do double kiss or hug for hello and goodbye. I think double kiss is more European. Americans do one, and Italians do three as I recall. The main point is, why ignore an opportunity to kino if it's totally socially acceptable? |
