Question: "So, what kind of music do you listen to?" (question girls give me all the time a few minutes into the conversation when they are interested in me). Real answer: I Don't really listen to music at all. I'm just not into it. I've tried... but.. just doesn't do anything for me. Problem: That's a huge DLV, when I need to be doing DHVs. So, I need to find a good way to answer or -deflect- this question. Ideas? |

Is there any time or place where you DO enjoy music? Quote: I Don't really listen to music at all. I'm just not into it. I've tried... but.. just doesn't do anything for me.
This doesn't have to be a DLV if you keep a dominant frame and stay alpha.

I don't dislike it. If I'm somewhere and there's music playing then I'll listen. But I just don't go out of my way to listen to it when I'm by myself, ever. It distracts me from reading, sleeping, watching movies, or anything else that I could be doing instead. . Perhaps I could just respond with: "that reminds me" and launch a story or routine? |

just say you like all music, don't elaborate.Real answer: I Don't really listen to music at all. I'm just not into it. I've tried... but.. just doesn't do anything for me. Then when she answer's keep talking about something else and don't give her the chance to ask what music you listen to. Or even better yet, say I don't listen to music...it's for losers. If you say it confidently and your sure of yourself, you should be good. |

It is a shitty answer. I've heard people say that to me and I groan. |

The thing here is that, if she's asking you that question, she's trying to build rapport with you, so that's an IOI. Now, the last thing you want to do is IOD her IOI, because that is punishing her for behaviour you WANT. If you say something negative like "I dunno" or "I don't listen to music" it seems like an IOD. I would say something like, "I'm happy listening to anything fun and upbeat, whether I'm at a club on hanging with friends. How about you?" Answer the question positively, and then flip the question and get her talking again. Alternatively if you don't want her to launch into her favourite bands and get bored, say "I'm happy listening to anything fun and upbeat, whether I'm at a club or hanging with friends. But actually, I'm way more into art/film/poetry etc." and then launch into something about that. |

Reckon it's better to be honest about it, I am always really interested by people who say they're not into music. It really astounds me and gets me asking lots of questions. Or you could just say, "I'm not really into music, I'm more of a ........ kind of guy", that way you are honest, and show that you are actually into SOME stuff, and give her the chance to ask you about it. eg "I'm more of a reading kind of guy, I read this awesome book the other day......" or more of a sporty kind of guy, whatever you are. She's only really going to be impressed if you are into the same music as her, she basically just wants to hear that you are not a doofus who is boring and isn't into ANYTHING. It doesn't matter that you are not into music, but you have to tell her what you ARE into. |

I haven't read any of the replies so this may have been said but...GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD! You're majorly overthinking shit. DHV, DLV...whatever. Only Low value people worry about demonstrating value. High value men know their high value and they wouldn't worry about what a girl thinks when it comes to their music taste. Short answer: Say whatever the fuck you want. |
