| Post subject: | Alcohol Problem |
I have this age old problem of being a much more entertaining guy when I’ve had a bit to drink. My drinking is now becoming a problem, not to the extent of alcoholism but enough of a problem to make me want to stop drinking. I just know how much better my life would be if I completely stopped. For example more money and being able to be extremely confident all the time without the alcoholic crutch. Here’s the major catch though, I’m much less fun and I seem to be a lot less attractive when I don’t drink. My whole game is centred around being bouncy, enthusiastic and not giving a crap about what other people think. I’m obviously at the height of this after a decent amount on drinking. When I’m completely sober I can get into this mode but it’s rare and when I’m not I feel awkward and slightly uncomfortable. I hope the end of that paragraph didn’t make it seem like I need alcohol to function because that’s not the point and certainly not the case. My body isn’t dependant on it but parts of my gaming attitudes are – if that makes any sense. I’m beginning to waffle so I’ll cut myself off, any sort of feedback on how to stop drinking and being in that sort of state all the time will be much appreciated. |

There are other ways to get in that state. Focus on things that make you happy before you go out. Work out, listen to some kick ass music, do some work, stretch, and other stuff. There are all kinds of tips out there for getting in a great mental state. I even posted some on Youtube. Here’s the major catch though, I’m much less fun and I seem to be a lot less attractive when I don’t drink. Give up the alcohol, you can get a natural mood that is just as bouncy and energetic. That is within you and your personality. The liquor just helped you get there, but we can do that without it, trust me! <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hv8_KCvBkQI&hl ... ram> The video which is a little old now covers most of the stuff I do prior to going out. Basically do things that naturally make you happy while avoiding some of the negatives, and get plenty of rest before you go out. Take a cat nap if you need to. |

I have alot of insecurites myself, and drinking really lets me loosen up. If it want for the health aspects of it i would love to be a little loosy goosy all the time. That, in combination with really truly and deeply enjoying the taste of beer means i drink alot. I stick it to the weekends and the off week night when the crew wants to roll out to a bar. I dont HAVE to drink, ill have one and be the driver or something. If you feel its an issue then it really must be, because most people deny it until someone else steps in. I think that like you said stopping driking will save you a ton of money and health problems. even though you are not a addict/alcoholic it doesn't mean you can join a support group/online forum. There those individuals will be able to relate better to your situation and help you out good luck on your journey |
