No. Definitely not. Very little of anything you read about is ever essential. Peacocking, however, is fun. You'll feel a little bit insulated and it's enjoyable to go out dressed up like a rock star; or a cowboy; or a Scotsman. |

Yeah like its already been said pea cocking is NOT essential it was mainly designed for clubs or to start conversation in a club everyone is pretty much looking the same but if your walking around with a big fuzzy hat or a light up shirt people will notice you you will stand out and they will approach you and initiate you in conversation you don't have to do it though especially during day game there's not much need to peacock |

Also, just to add, I've said this before, but a lot of guys think of peacocking in really limited terms. It doesn't HAVE to mean wearing a bizarre piece of clothing or carrying an anachronistic prop, it simply, at its most basic, means wearing or carrying something that attracts attention. I peacock in my daily life because I dress up whenever I go out. I'm the only guy in the club wearing a tie (and it's not just a solid tie, it's a tie with a cool pattern). It gets noticed. I wear good cologne, and I have never gone a day without a woman commenting on my scent. I recently took to wearing an old-school fedora. EVERYBODY comments. I'm not kidding, every girl I meet wants to try it on. It's funny because I only bought it because I liked it, but it's become an icebreaker, AND it doubles as an anchor if I let them try it on. If a girl's been really good, I'll leave it with her and tell her she can wear it while I go talk to my friend/use the bathroom/get another drink. Only the ones giving the highest IOIs get that though, and I don't do it often, so the girl knows she hasn't seen any other girl wearing it and really feels special. One cold night I walked into a bar and was wearing a coat, a classy scarf, and the hat. I went up to get a drink and a 9 and a 10 immediately buzzed up. Before they even spoke, the 9 yanked off my scarf and threw it around her neck, and the 10 took my hat. Then it's "OMG I love this scarf, I'm keeping it," "OMG I would look so sexy in this hat. Do I look sexy?" "OMG you smell so good!" "OMG that is the hottest tie!" It was overlapping so much I couldn't even find room to respond, so I gently recovered my things and quipped, "Hey, can you guys idolize me one at a time? I can't hear myself think." Peacocking does NOT have to mean looking purposely oddball. Of peacocks, Wikipedia says: Quote: The plumage of the peacock, and the peahen's preference for its exorbitance, is a classical example of sexual selection and especially the handicap principle.
I figure what I do is more a literal example of it than wearing a loud shirt or a kilt. Anyway, just saying, if you're curious about peacocking but hesitant to wear something strange, there's more than one way to skin a cat. Or flare your feathers, so to speak.
... The male peacock flares out its feathers when it is trying to get the female's attention. |
