| Post subject: | What if she starts asking questions too early? |
Hey guys! I'm trying to get my way around the Mystery Method and I came across this situation: what if she starts asking questions like "what do you do for a living?", "how old are you?", etc, too early? This would totally blow off the method structure. How do you react? |

This is why M3 has lost some credibility here. It's so rigid that as soon as something changes, there's a moment of 'whadoIdo' that has been known to throw everything off. Most of the time in a situation like this you can skip right to where you WOULD be when she starts asking questions. It's an IOI, she wants to know more about you. Or, depending on the line of questioning, it could be suspicion, but unless they're very defensive questions this is unlikely. Maybe look at some other methods too, vary your style a bit. Cinnamon |

Actually, it does not really destroy your game... Even if you follow the MM. When she starts asking questions you are in A2. You can DHV and you should. You do not HAVE to neg, you do not HAVE to open. Sometimes they open you. The MM is not really based on rules, just guidelines to get you started until you get a feeling for the game... Then you improvise. Still, it is good to study other methods as well... Ezo |
