Post subject:  Interesting Pub problem.

So i'm sitting on the sofas in a student pub, teaming with students on a £1 a pint night and having lots of banter with my mates.

A group of 3 HBs walk past and i open them successfully.

Here's the problem:

I am sitting down comfortably, and the 3hbs are standing around my position with drinks and are interested in what i'm talking about.

BUT: as i'm talking in A2, they are getting tired of standing and holding their drinks (one is holding a jug) and i can see them giving eachother the "lets go and find a seat" look.

I don't feel as though i've been talking long enough to invite them to sit down and join us without them immediately thinking "oh right, that's what he's after."

Any solutions?

Thanks

Just let them go and find them later, they will be opened for your re-approach.

That is why in the opener it is suggested that we use a time constraint..As for what the other guy said that is very good advice.Open them get them hooked and just tell them "well it was nice talking with you,I see you guys are getting tired of standing,go find a table and I will catch up to you later"Goodluck to you man...

Yeah that's the kinda thing i thought u'd have to do, guess there's no other way round it really. It might be easier to just avoid opening moving sets if you are sitting down.

thanks for your input guys.

Out of interest - where abouts in England are you from?
and yeah - moving sets are a bad idea...

Up at the bar as they order their drinks is an alright place as you can also turn to the barman and talk with him...also you can neg them on their choice of drinks (For example: If they order a pint instead of a "girl's" drink)

Stuff like that...
Good luck to you mate!
;)
