first question: i just started college and am currently enrolled in a public speaking class. When it comes to speaking in front of a crowd, i remember back when i was in ninth grade i was to give a report on some topic. i knew like everyone in the class and i still got nervous. Can anyone provide any tips or strategies to get over the nervousness when speaking in front of an audience? And my second question how would i number close a hb 8 friend that i haven't seen in like 6 - 8 years? I don't want to get with her because she lives in california and i live in mississippi. I just want her number to text call her whenever just to talk. Sorry for lack of paragraphs, on my phone and thanks for the replies |

When you go before a class or w/e make sure your orginzied and focused on the things your saying and try getting into the story, it fear will be less when you focus on your work more and just act very bold without showing it. As for your friend, if you just want to be her friend why cant you simply ask her for her number? Bring some past memories back and at a good point cut off and use a false time constrant and tell her give you her number and you'll chat later . |

i find when i am trying to retell a story it helps to cut the story down into video segemtns. you can retell each segement in greater detail describing the enviornment, the way the people look, the sounds, etc. it is also good to desribe how you felt during the story. pausing is also something that you can use to your advantage. after each sentence leave half a second to a second pause, so your previously said statement can sink in to the audience before you deliver a new one. if you're trying to explain a concept or idea in front of a large group i find that it really helps to slow down your speech. i find that if i speak to fast i get ahead of myself and start to stumble or loose my train of thought. speaking slowly makes sure that you don't get ahead of yourself and also makes it easier for the audience to understand you and grasp your ideas. slowing down your speech also makes you appear higher value. people who speak fast do this because they are trying to get their message across as quickly as possible because subconiously they are afraid they can't hold the audiences attention or because they are nervous. high value people speak in a slow confident pace. if you want to improve your speaking infront of an audience or in all contexts it helps to be aware of what happened throughout your day and try to tell 1 new story ever day. if you don't have a story for that day, share an interesting fact or tell something new. by doing this you will become a better speaker and story teller. |
