hey guys,

I was at this sweet 3-floor club on Friday night and saturday morning, celebrating a friend's birthday. I successfully opened about 30 sets or so, got plenty of IOIs and some phone numbers, was just having a good time.

Even though everyone was responding well, a couple of girls smiled and asked "was that a pick-up line?" They were really nice about it and I was like "Nah I was just wondering". I like opinion openers (who doesn't) but I felt like maybe I wasn't being casual and 'in-the-moment' enough because they picked up on me trying to pick them up :P

Does anyone have any advice or opinions on this?

I was thinking of maybe negging her for that next time it happens. Saying "wow, that's quite an ego! why would I want to pick you up?" or something. Is it too early to neg and demonstrate value right after opening like that?

Oh no, that is great dude. Do it, but remember delivery is everything. If you don't do it with a smile and with the "smartass" demeanor, then it won't work. But if you do it right, its a great way to play it off. It will set her back on her heels. However, be prepared for her to throw that back at you, so you'll need to not backdown from what she says.

Yes, I tend to go apocolyptic with a neg when I get a shittest. It insults me when I make myself vulnerable to a woman's affections and she only sees fit to use that moment of vulnerability to crush me.

Your choice is to walk away where her friends laugh at you, or shut her down, screw with her mind and make her submissive.

You don't seem to understand the concept of it being a game. You are running your own set of shit tests on her to make sure she qualifies for your tastes and she's gonna do the same, that's just how people work, if we didn't, then we'd end up with all sorts of horrible pairings left and right. So don't take it as an insult, she's not being a bitch, she's playing the game, just as you should be. Have fun with it, cause if you aren't, then you're not doing it right; that's my ONLY rule. If they laugh at you, then you just smile and laugh back, like it's the funniest thing in the world!

Think of it this way: if you've ever seen someone trip while walking up some stairs and they fall flat on their face, it's pretty damn funny, right? Now, if the person gets in huff and gets angry, or upset and storms off or hangs their head and mopes off, then it's just sad and you're laughing at them because of it. If they instead get up, have a stupid grin on their face and then laugh at it WITH you, then it's all in good fun and no one is hurt, everyone gets a chuckle and it's remembered as a good time. That's what they're hoping you're gonna do, laugh WITH them, play along WITH them and share something. You're trying to dominate them, when you should be meshing with them.

Now that I read the typed word a fourth time, I understand how written in comes off mean. OK, don't use that crass of blast. Use something goofy as the faked pickup line.
