naw, man i would take out all that self-philisophy and self-explanation shit. its no good. plus in that big picture in your about me your posture is horrible, (not a good sign for the ladies) take it down. Add some mystery, take out that whole about me and say something like... "my name is XXXX and i like it when you call me big poppa." something funny and random, you seem way to serious and not very fun from. dont treat it as a biography you have to fill out for a job or something, have fun with it. make them want to know more about you |

Do not take anything I say to heart. You looked depressed in your initial picture that you took down. Your page bored the fuck outta me. When was the running picture took? Highschool? Are you trying to pick up girls from myspace? You have over 1000 friends, but only 45 comments. Why so many people and so few comments from friends? Tila and Tom in your top friends is pretty lame. Your top friend is a group and not even a person... Put your closest friend in the top space. Start commenting on every hot girl who is your friend. Change your background. Find one that is unique to you. It could be the fucking color red. The myspace editor is really easy to use. Switch it up. Put a decent song on there. Get people you actually know in your top friends. You need to have more picture of you in a social setting. More pictures of you with people, girls, humping a dog in the cafeteria, playing poker, dancing, skydiving, rock climbing, playing the guitar, a stupid goofy face, in a cowboy hat smoking a cigar, whatever whereever. Show you are a fun life of the party kind of guy. Show some life in your pictures and on your page. You look like someone I wouldnt want to hang out with. Thats coming from a guy. What do you think a female would think? When they say convey your personality, if you like to ski, have a cool skiing background. I drink redbull like water, so i have a redbull can in my background. Honestly, no one really reads too much of the about you and shit like that. Make it simple. A quick glance at pictures, and maybe a comment are about all anyone does. If someone spends more than 2 minutes on your myspace page then feel fucking special. Look around at one of the thousand + friends you have and see what they have going. do something similar. Good luck |

AMEN. Most of your comments, it seems looking over them, are spam and such. Put your actual INTERESTS in your Interests box--that's not where pictures of you and your pickups go...it looks desperate at worst, sleazy at best, and it throws off the alignment of your page. Listen to everything See Kay said re: your friends page. Delete the comments that aren't worthwhile. I don't know if you've redone your About Me on some of the advice in this thread, but if you have, redo it again. No girl is gonna respond to a mission statement. "Anyone who values personality" seems like the kind of thing that would be said by someone without one who's bitter because he's never gotten any attention despite believing he's a good person. Change your default--make THAT one of the pickup pictures. Make an effort to fill out your sidebars a little more--my god, you even state the guy from A Beautiful Mind as your only hero and you don't even know his name. Put some good music on your page. I change up my song at least every two or three months. Where's the personality? I can't even say if you look like someone I'd wanna hang out with or not because the page is so blank that like someone said, it looks almost like spam. (And btw, the one hot girl in your top friends ALSO appears to be a spam profile. You need to switch that up real fast; that doesn't lend credibility.) Maybe even start blogging occasionally, but only interesting things. Who ARE you? What are you about? What do you want out of life? Find a way to nutshell this on your Myspace. It's exactly what it says, your own personal space, your little corner of the web to decorate as you see fit. Everything about my own 'space, from the wallpaper to the blog entries, is spefically engineered to give one complete snapshot of my persona. I usually keep it private...I unlocked it a few days ago to demonstrate for someone else on here but locked it back up when I got a bunch of spam adds...I'll unlock it again for a couple of days so you can see. It's here. Since it's usually private obviously I don't use it to meet girls (I despise attempting to meet women online and have far better luck in the real world), but that's no excuse not to present properly. I picked something very classy and perhaps somewhat mysterious for my default pic...that makes an immediate impression. I change my name on there all the time but it's always something witty and very random, though the one I have right now gives an immediate impression too lol. (During a horrible blizzard a few months back, I changed my name to Yukon Cornelius--you know, from the Rudolph cartoon--and used MS Paint to draw his hat and insane red 'stache on my picture, and temporarily replaced my default with that.) The background speaks for itself...and I like that it gets the point across but isn't loud and overbearing and busy like most. My current song, the Youtube vid, and the gif at the bottom of my Interests all say something very cool about me. I have a really diverse mix of stuff in my sidebars and Like to Meet section. I wrote my About Me one night when I was drunk and in a particularly puckish mood, and it's about as C&F as you can get in a Myspace bio. My pics are friends-only, but they're mostly from parties and drunken nights out with friends and girls. My blogs, for anyone who cares to read them besides my actual friends, are thought-out, real entries. Occasionally I'll throw in an update on the strides I'm making in my career and the local arts scene, or a short fiction piece. (There's a really bizarre one I wrote about a ladybug back in the winter that I thought was a riot.) Note how it's ALL part of one whole, consistent persona--sexy, classy, witty, surprising, and sliiiightly geeky. (I even pull off geeky with style--check this blog.) I do have some celebs in my top friends, but it's a Top 28, and the first 20 are all good friends of mine and musicians I hang out with, plus a local organization I support and one of my favorite hangouts. The penultimate row gives another example of my taste in music and culture, and the last row (because after a lot of thought, I feel I can get away with it because of how many real friends I have in the group and the fact that I displayed enough well-roundedness in the rest of my profile to not come off as a horndog or low-class) shows the kind of women I like. My first page of comments are all from people I know (except one, but it's from a hot pornstar who stopped by to compliment my wit). Like I said to the other guy in his thread, you don't have to be a writer to be clever or have a good myspace. It's an interactive billboard for advertising yourself. Look at yours. Would YOU wanna try a product marketed that poorly? If the person selling it doesn't believe in it enough to promote it decently, why should anyone else? |

I saw a girl's myspace where every picture, the about me section and who Id like to meet were ally quotes from the movie Anchorman. It was a great myspace page. That showed personality. It showed she had a good sense of humor and a great taste in movies. |

See, though, that's SUPER tough to pull off, and I would argue it's easier for a girl to do it than a guy without looking like a geek. If you were a guy it would have to be something really hip like, yeah, Anchorman or The Office or some such. For a while a couple years back my top group was all the characters from Arrested Development. But for the most part I would suggest going with something fitting your own personality. Still need to change that default picture. The pics of you and the girls don't go in the About Me. That looks kind of desperately braggy. They go in the photos, and one needs to be your default. Also braggy, the skiing paragraph. There's a way to write it without sounding like you're boasting. The About Me's a big improvement overall though. There are still no women in your top group, and one of the top eight is a layout site, and you still haven't filled out your sidebars. Still work to be done. |
