I'm new to all this but I figure I'd give peacocking a shot. My ex-girlfriend left me recently for a car mechanic but she still agrees to meet me sometimes so I figure i'm in with a shot at winning her back. Anyway, I bought myself a plaid shirt, some big lumberjack boots and an axe for 'peacocking' and trying to look more alpha. I went to meet her in some bar last night (had to leave the axe outside - would this have ruined my character? - perhaps i should meet her in a park next time??) and she commented on my change in appearance (i havent shaved in a month either to look more manly) but other than that I didn't seem to leave much of a lasting impression.

How did I go wrong? I've always thought peacocking was supossed to be a powerul tool in any PUA's arsenal. So what's up here? She left me for a mechanic, and I know she always commented on how she liked manlier looking guys and I always felt I wasn't like that. Will this lumberjack outfit help me get laid at all or does peacocking only work for magicians?

Well...peacocking is more about being eye catching and thats about it. If you look more manly and don't act it, then you just bought the outfit and ax for no reason at all. And unless you're gonna crack jokes about painting her blue and calling her "Babe", then leave the Paul Bunyan thing alone.(except for halloween, that will be fun though)
And don't over do the peacocking. You need to work on attitude and personality before you worry about an absurdly large hat.

Peacocking is just to call attention to yourself so the babes notice you and are interesting in meeting you.

Is also a way to make it easy for them to open you and create topics of conversation. Like when they ask you where did you get that necklece, ring, hat, etc... and you tell them a DHV story.

Thats why it is a powerful weapon. But it only takes you so far. I would leave this when you become more experience in the arts and got the basic covered (inner game). This is just something to add to your game to take it up a notch.

If you don't do it correctly you could come off as a clown or a dork.

Eeer... I do not think any PUA would suggest a large axe as a peacocking thing. It would NOT work on your ex-GF in any case. Peacocking is about attention and conveying personality and confidence. Your ex-GF would see right through this.
First impressions last, when people see you dressed like a rockstar, they will rmember you as a rockstar. If your GF who know you are not... It just becomes ridiculus.

Don't ever meet a girl with an axe again. That's just REAL common sense lol.

This is the funniest thread I've read in a LOOONG time! I always wonder when guys with 1 post say stuff like this, whether they are making a joke, or if they are serious. God I hope it's serious. LMAO.

is this a joke or a real peacocking question? not trying to be a dick but why not try looking like a rock star rather then a lumberjack? how many women do you know that really want to do a lumberjack?

You are completely right, the missing axe ruined your characted and IS the reason things went south. Next time meet her in a public park and demonstrate your raw force and rebel life style by chopping down a tree (or a phone mast).

Tips for next time:
-use anabolic steroids to improve your outer image
-switch the axe for a powertool, go for the chainsaw!

I'm sure Style talked in the game about the time he went out with a tool box and pulled 20 woman... Maybe not

Like I said this was pretty much my first attempt at being a 'PUA' and also at peacocking. Perhaps I went overboard but I wanted to combine the masculine image (I said how she liked manly guys) with a kind of far out image. She actually complimented me on the beard (forgot to mention this before), could this be an IOI?

mate just tone it down. if ses complimenting u on ur beard thats all good, but never go out with in such a theme. this s how the term is defined

PEACOCK—verb: to dress in loud clothing or with flashy accoutrements in order to get attention from women. Peacocking items include bright shiny shirts, light-up jewelry, feather boas, colorful cowboy hats, or anything else that makes one stand out in a crowd. Origin: Mystery.

tone it down alittle next time mate. if it were a theme party tho..

 LMFAO

No the lumber jack thing was a bad move, you should have went out dressed as SPAM, or no even spiderman, then you can use your spidy sense to guage how attracted to you she is.

You should have went out dressed like al capone and took a tommy gun with you, now thats really manly. Then you can take the weapon into the bar next time and dhv by flashing your piece. (note: i mean the gun not your cock.)

Please everybody post your embaressing peacoking stories here!
