Post subject:  good excuse to not drink out of someone's cup?

I am paranoid about diseases, particularly the ones that have no cure (example: herpes)
I DONT WANT MY LIPS TO HAVE THOSE WEIRD SORES.

when a girl is drinking something and says "you wanna try it?" what is a good excuse to not try it?

obviously I can't say "I don't want to catch all your diseases"

"I don't like it" won't work because let's say you have already told her you like it so you can't contradict yourself.

I can try changing the subject but sometimes it comes off awkward.

Say what you normally say when you turn down sex.

First, consider therapy because there is a line where fears go from normal to insane. Second, say you just got over a cold and don't want to spread any germs. I mean ffs I figured that out way back.

Why would you be worried about drinking from a cup of a girl you are trying to sleep with?

I don't think "I have a headache" is going to cut it.

Herpes can't be transmitted from a cup.

Science is your friend.

It can.

Anyway, there shouldn't be an excuse for it. A simple "no, thank you" will do OP. IF she asks why, tell her that "you have had enough to drink and don't want to be taken advantage of ;)."

No it can't.

Stop being allergic to science, guys.

Only skin-to-skin contact, or sexual contact.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections are very common worldwide. HSV-1 is the main cause of herpes infections on the mouth and lips, including cold sores and fever blisters. It is transmitted through kissing or sharing drinking glasses and utensils. HSV-1 can also cause genital herpes, although HSV-2 is the main cause of genital herpes.

Contrary to popular speculation, herpes simplex cannot be transmitted by towels, cups or very many other things. Unless it is skin-to-skin or sexual contact, it is not possible to transmit the disease in other ways. It does seem likely that it would be possible via sharing cups because of saliva, although it is not. The herpes simplex virus is vulnerable on any surface other than skin and needs to have contact with skin to stay alive. Once it leaves the skin it dies instantly. Therefore, bathtubs, toilet seats and other surfaces cannot carry the disease but still can have other types of bacteria, but not related to herpes.

That's HSV-1, LOL!

90% of Americans over 50 have been exposed. YOU probably have it. I probably have it.

I'll go with a medical centers website as opposed to hellolife's website.

The OP may not have it and that's what he wants to prevent. You know...the point of the post.

most people already have HSV-1.

Everyone is at risk for oral herpes from HSV-1. In fact, studies suggest that by adolescence, 62% of Americans are infected with HSV-1. By the time people are in their 60s, up to 85% have been infected.

If you have a active sexual life, most probably you have too. Its very easy to get infected by HSV-1.

Yeah. HSV 1 is no big thing. We all probably got it.
