Okay... where to begin.

I'd consider my situation very unique - I go to this really great private school, one of the best in Alberta. I'm not considered a creep, or a fag, I'm widely known as one of the most intelligent students there, and I have a lot of classmates added on Facebook, and most of them think that the style of my FB posts and comments is hilarious - I don't mean hilarious as in being laughable in a derogatory sense, they actually think I'm a funny guy on Facebook... but that all disappears when I'm face-to-face with these people. I'm shy, and terrified of talking to girls, though I do attempt occasionally and end up making a complete fool of myself. They don't (openly) mind my presence though. My thoughts are that girls don't consider me creepy - I do talk to them sometimes, but I don't think many of them consider me datable material (2/28 girls said "yes" to dating me on my Social Profile), although I am confident that I can change their opinions about me, but not without help. That's where you guys come in.

Any thoughts on how to get this done? There's really only one girl who I have in mind, but I am willing to broaden that if that's going to be necessary.

Welcome to the forums SMR. It sounds like you are putting all of your eggs in one basket by saying you have one specific girl on your mind. That is not good. You should be getting to know a girl before liking her and be the prize and have standards. Women love that, and the fact that in your mind you have set her as a prize your actions will reflect that and it is doubtful that she will be attracted to you with that mindset.

A few things that I think would benefit you greatly would to be to not put her or any women on a pedestal. Dont rate women, if a girl is super hot dont look at her and think "wow i gotta talk to that super hot girl and get her to like me". Instead think, "wow she isnt perfect, she has tons of issues and her teeth are kinda crooked". Focus on her weak points when you get nervous. Also dont ever try to impress a girl or care what she thinks. If you place your effort in improving your social skills and dont look for a desired outcome or care what she thinks you will get much further.

Also, beautiful women cant stand it when you are unaffected by their BS and and stuff. Be unaffected if she says anything negative to you. Good luck SMR, go get those chicks dude.

Thanks for your reply Icepick, I appreciate the advice. Though I probably should have clarified - I do know this girl, and she does get the idea that I like her, I make it a bit too obvious.

Yep, one key with girls is to not make it so obvious that you like them. Always leave them suspended between affection and rejection. Leave them wondering, leave them wanting more. I have been testing this concept of letting a girl know you like her lately and it blows me away at how disgusted women are when you let her know you like her before she likes you.

IMO, thats pretty much what makes a women feel attraction for a guy in the first place(the fact that he is disinterested and nonneedy....and makes her laugh ;-). I tested this concept just a few days with a girl at work who is of much lower value to me and I would never give the time of day to. I walked up to her and was giving her some big IOI's. She completely lost any attraction she had for me previously. She thought I was a clingy bastard probably. You want to show a women your interested in a subtle way, not a clingy in your face kind of a way. Tease the hell out of em too. Women love being teased. It shows that you have good social skills which is a DHV.

icepicks' advice is spot on..

read up on one-itis..read up on C&F and you shouldn't consider your situation unique..it will just make you more nervous...
