Post subject:  Redeeming yourself after messing up?

So, there's this girl in college that I recently found out is interested in me. She's been smiling, constantly looking at me etc, in lectures for about 2 months now, so I already knew, but it was just confirmed when she told one of my friends about how attractive she finds me. I never approached her as I was in a happy relationship, so I left it alone.

The past few weeks or so, me and my girl have been having a rocky time. I found myself bored, and doubted if I still had romantic feelings for her so I suggested we take a break. After a while, she agreed. During that break I started talking to that girl and I found myself getting attracted. The problem is, my "girlfriend" and the girl I started talking to somehow bumped into each other on campus. They got friendly and went onto the talk of relationships and my girlfriend told her that she was in a relationship with me.

I have now fully broke up with my girlfriend as I realized she's not the right one for me and I wanted to fully pursue that girl. But the girl I found myself talking to, now has been acting "off" around me. Her comment, "He can't talk to me. He has a committed girlfriend. It's wrong." It's also awkward around her, I don't know how to approach her and talk to her anymore because of my ex's comments. She made it sound as if I was in a committed relationship and was actively looking for other girls to cheat with. I'm sure that's how that girl see's it too. So I've been "avoiding her" to an extent.

I'm currently on vacation and have no way of contacting that girl, so I told my friend to give her my social media info. She's followed me, (which I guess is a good sign), but I'm not quite sure what to say to redeem this situation. What do you guys think?

She knows that humans are not locked into relationships forever.

Chat her up and ask her out. If she says "what about your gf" you tell her the truth that you broke up.

to be devil's advocate, girls always find you attractive when you're taken. Because it is 'taboo' - soon as you're single and available, it turns their vagina into a giant Star Wars desert sand muff
