Post subject:  Guess there goes my pride...

First post here. I'm an AFC 23, 5'11, 3 past girlfriends, sex with one less than 10 times, and I'm not bad looking. I read Models by Mark Manson, and the first parts of The Game by Neil Strauss. I'm posting here because a friend and I went to a bar. He scored right away and I couldn't even open a single set. I'm pathetic. I really hate to ask for help, but I have no choice. I can't do this alone. I tried the first mission, but don't feel like I was very successful. I maybe managed to say hi to one HB. It almost feels like everybody was avoiding me.

I don't know what to say. This seems impossible. I'm a funny guy, but I have to know people to know how to make them laugh. I make everybody in the room laugh once I know them well, I'm not nearly as funny with strangers.

I would really like it if somebody pointed to me to set of exercises that would help me get past some of my social anxiety. Ideally, I would love to learn how to open sets. I don't care if I can't close numbers at first, but I would love to walk up to a group and entertain them for a bit. I'd love to feel welcomed to a group of strangers. Eventually, I would need to learn how to isolate my target, but for now, opening sets is good enough. Do you guys have any recommendations on how to start that? What are the best places to practice opening sets? I find it difficult to open sets at bars because of the loud music. Same thing with clubs.

As a side note, would like to practice this quite a bit, and half my sarges will most likely be solo. Thanks.

Reading Models was a very wise choice. Props.

Other than that dude, it's all about overcoming your ego. You just have to go out and do it. You'll suck at first, and once you understand that's fine and learn to have fun with it it will become a pleasure.

Put in the time and effort and you will thank yourself later.

You can start with this quote:
Quote:
“I will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour, each day, everyday, until the words become as much a habit as my breathing, and the action which follows becomes as instinctive as the blinking of my eyelids. With these words I can condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success. I will act now. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk. I will work when failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all I have. Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor of the lazy. I am not lazy. Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I will act now. Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever. This is the time. This is the place. I am the person.”

Basically you have to understand that this is not and event, its a process. Its just like whipping your body into shape. If you look at yourself from day to day during workouts you will not notice much change. But through repetition of the same exercises you will begin to have noticeable results after 60-90 days.

What you have to do is work out your mental and emotional state and if you haven't done it much before it could potentially take longer than 60-90 days. Its something you have to strive for everyday. You have to correct the thoughts that don't belong, speak the truth you want into your life out loud and take the proper actions to get there.

Your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your character, and your character becomes your destiny.

You change your thoughts and you change your destiny.
