If a guy is 5'5" in height, 140 pounds, dark skin, body not athletic, 1) what should he wear 2) what colors, light colors, or dark colors? |

What should this hypothetical person wear...... In general? To the bar? To work? On a date? Jeans and a hoodie? Jeans and a button-up? There are girls out there who like all "types"... Some like juice-heads, some like lanky guys, some like black guys, some like white guys (and a million other variations)... Dress well, but dress in something you would wear (ie: if I told you to wear a neon blazer and that isn't "you", then don't do it...) Examples: Looking to show off the fact you're skinny and lanky: go with a nice, well-made button-up, nice shoes and be well groomed (get a good haircut, shave, and brush your teeth... Smell good). Looking to hide the fact you're skinny and lanky: go with something bigger. A nice hoodie (G-Star or a good brand) or if it's a date wear a button-up with a blazer on top and some good shoes. Same as above applies to your hygiene, hair, etc. Look your best. There's no rule, except that.... Well, except don't wear fedoras. Contrary to what you may have heard, they're actually hilarious and not cool or fashionable. |

You also need to covey your personality. For example I play in a rock band so I always dress like would on stage. Really it's basically jeans and a tshirt but with the accessories I add (necklaces, wallet chain, bandana, bracelets etc) girls always ask me if I'm in a band or when I tell them they say "I thought so". So if you're in a more professional line of work consider going quite smart with a casual suit or something. If you're a DJ, dress accordingly. You don't necessarily have to "peacock" but I think a girl should get a sense of who you are before you even open your mouth. There are ways to look "individual" without looking too different if that makes sense. |

sorry, I forgot to say for what occasion. I just wanted to look nice to make a good first impression so they don't think "this guy is homeless" Location could be anywhere, time would be mostly during the day. like when you go to the post office or when you go outside to run errands. do colors matter? personally I like dark colors, I think light colors like a sky blue are too AFC. but someone told me light colors are better. |

Well, dark colours are slimming. However I have heard somewhere that red is a good colour cos it's something to do with subconscious sexual vibe. Might be bollocks tho. |

Thanks man, but I could improve upon everything. if I post a picture, you will say "change everything" my shirt looks like a piece of shit, my pants are too loose, my shoes are new balance running shoes. also I have a big belly which I can manage to hide with loose clothing, or sometimes I will pull it in using my stomach muscles to look like it's flat. I want to wear a slim shirt so working on getting rid of the belly. but I can pm you a picture if necessary. |

Rolling the sleeves a certain way, Cuffing the jeans lightly vs not cuffing them. Little adjustments make a big difference. Sometimes I'll buy clothes and not figure out the way to properly wear them for a month. |

If you have a belly, my suggestion would be using contrasting colors and layers. Specifically, wear a tshirt, with a flannel shirt open, on top of it. Like so. Colors are impossible to say without seeing you. If you're 5'5". you need to get some shoe lifts. Hunter_Foxe has some posts about it somewhere. I'm not an expert, but those really high backed sneakers that are popular now, would probably take 1 1/2" lifts or more. |

I'm not sure of what you're asking, but I believe its a comfort thing. Fashion isn't always "the clothes" as it is how comfortable you feel in them. I've seen some people look really uncomfortable in some stylish and expensive ass clothes. Its more HOW you wear it, as opposed to WHAT you're wearing. If you don't feel comfortable in the clothes, your confidence won't be at a level necessary to communicate attraction. Money can't buy style. Its more aura than anything. So certain little adjustments have managed to create a new level of comfort with something I may have been wearing for a month. We dress the way we feel usually. So some adjustments reflect those feelings just a little better. And the more your style identifies with the way you feel, the more comfortable you'll be in the gear. The more comfortable you are, the more comfortable people will be around you. So, I'm not trying to communicate anything. I just want to feel good in what I have on. The rest takes care of itself. Put a nerdy suburban kid in some the same great outfit your favorite rapper or singer had on and he just won't look as good in it, if he's not comfortable in the clothes. Its not reflecting whats on the inside of him. And he'll be scoffed at because of it. When I go shopping, I'll go to 20-30 different stores just looking for what makes me "Feel good", its not about what others are wearing necessarily. I'm looking to express myself, not express others. |

Thanks guy about the lifts: I guess you could say I have an ethical issue with it. I dont like the idea of tricking her into thinking I am something I am not. it's like a girl pretending she has giant breasts but then when she takes everything off, she actually has a flat chest. not cool. Eddie: I am still trying to send you those photos. remember, I told you I am lazy. |
