| Post subject: | Opinions on having a sister around a girlfriend |
Is this generally a good idea to try and make sure they don't get too close? I've a feeling that my sister would be inclined to(without realising it) say something that might make me look bad. I mean I know if I was to hypothetically hang out with a girlfriend's brother, I know wouldn't intend to end up talking about anything too personal as regards the relationship. But I'm not sure if it's different for girls, because as you know, they're more inclined to look out for each other and so on. What if she said something like: "oh well I'm just so glad Patrick finally got a girlfriend". It's just a mate of mine recently had a fight with his gf, and his sister got in contact with the gf asking why there's been a change in his behaviour. Just thinking to myself I'd hate to be in that situation. Any similar opinions on this subject? |

lol I've had similar worries in the past, but my worries was only a reflection of my insecurities. Eventually it happened; and I was always asked about the things from my girlfriend personally which only forced me to accept the truth. But it was the price I payed for putting on a partial front and not fully being myself. I think it would be a good thing; you'd learn a few lessons. Don't run from reality, the sooner it hits the sooner you can find a deeper level of happiness and personal security. Not to mention.. Our fears get FED, so if you're afraid of this your sister will pick up on it and feed the fear unconsciously and say something with the little time she does have to speak with her. And in all honesty, its pretty dope to let your girlfriend build relationships with you family; it only brings her closer to you. So if you can relax and jus let that happen it'll benefit your relationship a great deal. |

I would not worry about things too much my man. If anything, having your sister hang around your girlfriend will cause the 2 of them to bond more closely which will indirectly strengthen her relationship with YOU. All of the great qualities that she ends up seeing in your sister she may rationalize and transport those same good qualities onto YOU. So do not regret it, rather embrace it. |
