So she is probably an HB7 with all of her makeup on(HB6 without). I can tell she is very self-conscious because she never really speaks to anyone nor does she ever really make eye contact. She mostly keeps to herself, she is friendly with the more naive girl of the group. I tried to be friendly to her towards the start of the school year(fall quarter), tried joking around and saying hi every now and then. I can honestly say I haven't really had a problem with her except that I noticed she sort of whipped her boyfriend but he's the desperate beta type anyway. My cold read is that she is a little control freak, micro manager type. Anyway:

Here's the problem

We have been living for 4 month together already and there hasn't been an issue with rent whatsoever. I have always paid rent, never missed a payment. If for some reason I didn't have the money by the due date I'd borrow money from a different roommate and pay it back promptly. I have always been responsible. Now back up to this weekend. I go home for the weekend admittedly, paying rent escaped my mind. So I get a text.

Her: Taylor, it's Sunday and the rent is due. When will you be home?

Tyler: Hey what's up. My name is spelled Tyler btw. I'll be home later.

Her: Tiylr, I have to make a deposit today, next time pay before you leave.

Tyler: You spelled my name wrong again. It's cool Other roommate X will give you my portion of the rent this time.

Her: Yeah got it.

Obviously this is very passive aggressive and a little rude misspelling my name after I corrected her TWICE. She cannot deal with confrontation because the first thing I did when I came home is I just sort of looked her in the eyes without saying anything, she didn't look back for a second. She is my roommate and I don't want to make my home a battlefield so I just sort of let it slide. I paid her form something else I owed her, even said thank you to her after she gave me back change.

What do I do if this happens again? I will definitely confront her but what do I say? or what do I do now? Ideas?

She was probably having a bad day, you hadn't paid, she's got this deposit she has to do. She texts you maybe even accidentally putting your name in wrong. You make a point of saying something in your text, she to illustrate she isn't in the mood for it and to push your buttons puts it in wrong again. The best reaction is little to no reaction at all. Don't let it phase you, just do what you do, pay your rent, and go on with life.

You sound like a good guy just pay you rent on time or early and it won't be an issue.

I think it's more you here and you're looking deeper into things than they really are. She asked for the rent and spelled your name wrong. Not a sign of disrespect..she could have been rushing and mistyped..she may not have known how to spell your name. I misspell friends names in text by accident all the time. Heck I misspell my boss' name in emails if I'm using it on my phone. But here's the thing..you came at her rude. You fucked up...you forgot to pay your rent or at least leave it ahead of time. Just should've handled it like a man, not in a brush off kinda way. And as smooth said, when you brushed her off about the rent, she probably did the second time on purpose. A simple "oh..my bad...I just texted max to come give it to you. It's TYLER btw lol. Let me know if you don't get it from him soon" would've been enough.

Let it go. I still live with my ex girlfriend and she does the same bullshit. Sometimes she does it out of bitterness, sometimes she's really having a bad day, sometimes, it is my bad. Pick your battles because you guys can get on each other's nerve real quickly and really easily. And a girl usually won't confront you to your face. My ex has resorted to venting out just as I leave for work in the morning. I just ignore it now, it's stupid. She works overnights and waits until I wake up to start my day and texts me what her problems are. I just laugh it off now. It is too passive agressive for me.

Alright Toyler, here's what you need to do...

pay your rent on time. don't take it personal. be more self amused. and when the mood is better, try a little bit of friendly kino on your roommate, like bumping her shoulder or mock boxing or something. It sounds to me like she's a kinesthetic and if you get into a vibe with her where she's cool with it and you're just being friends, she'd probably appreciate the human touch.

Dude, I don't mean to sound rude, but... WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK?

Are you sure you are not being overly sensitive here? Like, if my roommate did this, I would probably be like "damn, this bitch is pretty retarded, spelling my name wrong twice" and go on about my day, forgetting about this incident within the following 5 minutes (and, of course, not ever bothering to post on here about this).

Worry about important stuff, not this.

HAHAHA

To the OP, I say she is a cunt and move out already. She spelt your name wrong disrespectfully on purpose just to piss you off

I moved in with my best friend and I think it is a massive boost to the life I love.

Sounds to me like you like her and her lack of respect for you is actually turning you on.

The misspellings were obviously purposing; but giving her attention for it only provides her with the passion to continue; because you're " Noticing". Had you ignored her and kept it short and to the point with her she would show you a lot more respect.

You're trying to " game " her and set some verbal boundary and as a result she is toying with you and treating you like the child you're acting like. You don have to assert yourself verbally like that. Its immature; a nerds way of "standing up for himself".

A man takes action, he doesn't cry.

Buy a sticker that says " tyler" and stick it on the front of her door. When she asks say " So you know how to spell my name next time. "

push her boundaries a bit. Or.. just move out. Or stop acknowledging her. She's your roommate, not your girlfriend or friend.

Word. My ex is moving out. Told her it wasn't working out. Been transitioning everything for her move in May. :)

Doesn't even sound like there's anything to handle. She shouldn't have to remind you about the rent. I don't even see how this post is relevant as you don't intend on banging her

The fact that some random comment from a room mate who you don't even give a fuck about bothers you is a problem. Who gives a shit dude? Ask her if you're getting evicted because you didn't hand her the money a few hours earlier and she'll shut the fuck up.

What you need to handle is learning how to put people in their place when necessary. :)
