I am sure there are multiple sayings on here about being confident.

A mentor of mine always told me, "when it comes to people and women, whomever is most sure of the outcome is usually the one that gets their way."

If you are sure about yourself when approaching women that you build attraction, more sure than she is of turning down, it has been my experience that you likely succeed.

With a good deal of confidence, basic conversation skills, and the ability to physically escalate, how much are lines, routines, gambits, etc. are actually needed? It has been mine experience that you have great confident and have the burning desire to overcome obstacles, the rest of the pua stuff is helpful but not necessary.

I am overrating confidence or does it seem that it is often underrated?

I think your concept of what a PUA is may be a little bit off. Some PUA's use routines and some don't. I don't normally like routines, but some of my favorite guys to read on this site do use them and do it brilliantly(read PEBBLE's Couch Surfing thread).

What you should be learning about PU is the pattern of seduction. The better you get at that, the easier it is to close girls in multiple types of situations, i.e., day game and night game. If you have confidence with women already, understanding the pattern will multiply that confidence.

I would agree with this, but for the way I play the game I have a general framework that I employ when meeting women, however it is far from a routine. It's a basic "try to check these boxes" while keeping it highly improvisational. By far the most important things are your sense of entitlement, your playfulness and your confidence.

How you project it depends entirely on you, your beliefs, your inner game.

Seduction is a three step process. Attract->comfort->seduce

No matter what techniques you use on women, it can't be done without those steps. When you see posts from guys that can't figure out their problems with women or one in particular, it's likely that they are missing one of the elements of the pattern(hopefully not more than one).

Personally, I like creativity and that's what I strive for. So if that means adapting some routines or some lines, then so be it. It also keeps me sharp. I like to think myself as a knife that needs sharpening every once in awhile. Confidence...yeah cool, basic convo skills, cool. But it's fun for me to get creative.
