Messaged a girl on Instagram. What the heck do I respond with to this:

me: Hey! How's it goin?
her: Hey! Good thanks for asking. I don't think I know you?
me: You don't know me actually lol. I saw your instagram through a mutual friend. I hope thats not too creepy lol
her: Kinda weird lol

Never invite someone to see you as creepy. Don't even bring the word up. You only validate the option for her to see it as creepy. You reduced yourself by saying " I hope you don't see me how some girls might see me". Why hope anyone sees you as anything? All that matters is how you see yourself.

I'd say.. " Oh well.. fuck it. What are you doing? lol"

I think thats your best bet. Break it down and change the subject. Then use that to transition into flirty conversation. Sometimes you gotta take 1 step back to take two steps forward.

Lol. I don't message girls through Instagram. This girl is a a friend of a friend that I saw through instagram and she suggested I message her.

It is a little stalkerish. "Well it's not like I'm on a pole outside your house with binoculars. You just looked interesting and fun so I added you." Also - if you've gotta ask for help on the 3rd line you may be in over your head with this one

I think it was a weak opener myself. I would have tried to convey a bit of personality in the opening message. Also i agree with charles. Either way approaching a girl like that on instagram is always going to be a tough gig.

You already over invested with that last message which led her to sending you back a short one. Over investing with that much thought again will only do the same. Thanks for the advice everyone. Yeah, I'll admit I'm pretty bad at this stuff, even with simple texts. Anyway, I wrote back something along the lines of what the first responder suggested I write and then I changed the subject. After not hearing from her all day, she finally got back to me asking me how my day was. How do I amp up the flirting?
