Post subject:  how to get into a friends with benefits arrangement?
I guess the subject explains my question; what is the best way to get a girl into a no-strings-attached purely physical arrangement? especially if you're already friends
I've had such arrangements in the past but i don't really know how it happened it just sort of did, I'm just curious as to whether there are any gambits or lines to propose it that are likely to be successful (or at least more likely that just saying it pure and simple)?

Just hang out with her and make a move. If she's cool with it... well, the dynamic of the relationship changes. Just don't get needy :)

Or, it can hurt you if you're TOO deep in that friend zone.

I don't know you or your situation with the girl... but just get her alone and make a move. You might lose a friend but that's the risk you take.

The issue is that this could very easily be misread as me wanting more than something physical - how do i put it in a way that makes it clear that isn't what im looking for?

"i like you but i just want to make it clear that i am not looking for a relationship right now. i am xx years old and i am looking to have fun right now."

not word for word but something like that. let her know no matter what happens you still want her as a friend (might not be true but it builds comfort)

Manage expectations.

Afterwards, maybe say something like "Let's not let things get weird between us. Cool?" and show her that you're not putting any weird meaning behind it.
