Are there any specific stand up comedians that are better to watch and learn from, to improve your game? Which ones are the best?

Yeah, you want to get laid like a comedian!

Not sure how one would define "a comedian."
It's a rather diverse category. Isn't it?

Humor is a minor(very minor) element in seduction. It's in no way needed, and on a list of skills, I'm not even sure I'd rank it in the top 10.

It's only useful to the extent of giving girls an emotional spike. But there are lots of ways to do it, and triggering a rainbow of good and bad emotions is a lot more effective than being a one trick pony.

Most funny guys don't get laid.

The way observing stand up comedy has helped my game is to get an idea for the flow of a set. When you watch a good comedian you get an idea for the ebbs and flows of a set. In the same way, there are many commonalities between running a solid interaction with a woman (from 'hi' all the way through to her smiling at you while you pull her panties down) and presenting a series of works at an art gallery for example.

More effective than watching a standup set for me has been to listen to interviews with comedians about how they approach their craft.

Just don't watch a standup set and be taking notes for ways of behaving around girls or things to say to girls when you are interacting with them.

Don't watch. Do it instead. It is far more useful.

I did a comedy workshop a while ago. It's great, it teaches you how to tell stories, it teaches you how to leave out all the guy shit detail that we think is great but bores the arse off most people, it teaches you physical performance, it teaches you just how long five minutes is when you are standing in front of a group and they are all looking at you for entertainment. Above all it is a massive confidence boost. Keep at it, do open mike slots, write, perform. I ended up doing a gig at the Edinburgh comedy festival, the set was shit but the experience was a blast. Massive adrenaline rush and I had probably the two best gaming days of my year during it because I was on such a high.

You can watch comedians all day but until you actually do it I don't think you really get the why of it all. It's not about the material (not many big comedians write their own stuff anyway), it's about performance and you learn that by doing, not by watching.

Dave DeAngelo says to study "Comedy Writing Secrets" by Mel Helitzer. Is that still a trusted source? Or have better sources come forth since the time of Double Your Dating?

Forget comedy for now and study up on sexual tension instead. Learning how to turn a girl on will do 100x more good for you then watching a bunch of stand up guys.
