I want to use an hairstyle like this: ![]() But it always ends up kinda wavy and with a lot of volume. What is it called and what products should I use to get it? |

I know it as "slicked back". How to do it seems pretty straightforward: Just comb it back and hold it with hair gel. To reduce the volume use a stronger gel and volume reduction shampoo. Or, the next time you go to the barber take that pic on your mobile and ask for a professional opinion. |

Go to a professional salon. If you can't afford it, look for a salon school near you (i.e. Paul Mitchell School) and get your hair cut there by the students. They are usually fairly inexpensive and do a really good job and they will teach you what you need to do to get it styled like that. Most people buy all these products and shit and have no idea how to use them. |

In fact there is a salon school near me. I'll give it a go. My regular barber only has two cut options: "you want me to cut a lot or a little"? Thank you! |
