Does anyone have any thoughts on dating people at work? I want to get some advice before showing interest to a colleague. |

Most people will say "don't shit where you eat" but to me thats nonsense. If you are mature enough to maintain a professional relationship even if you are fucking and ultimately break up then its definately possible. I have done it twice, last one was very awkward for a while after it ended but I would do the same again, if not you might always wonder...what if. Go for it! Also I would say don't show to much interest right off the bat....what's worked for me in the past is be funny and nice, keep the conversations short and always end them on a high note. Last one I didn't facebook friend(even though we were friends for months) she eventually added me and started messaging right away....all her. When you work with a girl unless she is very high value there really isn't such a rush like in the club to number close, keep her interest etc, you'll see her again so don't rush, be patient. GOOD LUCK |

It's fun at first but I wouldn't recommend it. If for some reason she gets pissed off at you, you're going to have to deal with the awkwardness at work. Now if it's a job that you rearley see each other like if u worked in 2 different departments that could work out. |

I've done it. Twice. One girl ended up cheating, but I was with her for about 5 yrs -- the other never amounted to more than a couple dates. Certainly check your company's policies on things like this... The legal and HR stuff around office romances - but really I didn't see a huge issue with it as long as you don't work directly with the girl and will never be in a position that you may be managing her at some point (or vice versa). A lot of guys on here will say it's a bad idea. And they may be right -- it does complicate things a bit (you have to decide whether to keep it a secret, for example). Personally I didn't think it was a huge deal as long as you're reasonably logical about who the girl is and careful about how you approach things. |
