Post subject:  Are hacking skills DHV?

I am the local tech guy at my job. This girl who friendzoned me (not the point now, tho) asked for my help. Someone created a fake facebook with her pictures and name and has been trashing her image. She thinks is an ex but asked if I can find who it is, wich I can. Easily.
But, are hacking skills DHV? I think yes, because I show confidence and dominance over a subject she knows shit about, I show I protect her and that I am willing to go the extra mile to have her back.
What do u think?

Hey man, this chick is tooling you... As a matter of principle, when you have been LJBF-ed, you should limit contact with the other party to "Hi" and "Bye"... not becoming rude, grumpy or anti-social, but no more services or free rides... About the fake Facebook thing, I would tell her to use the "Report abuse" button available on Facebook and hope for the best... why would you waste your time on her? Is this little investigation you were thinking about doing even legal?

About hacking skills, yes, in another context for sure you can use them as DHV... just play it cool and give your target a sample of your talents, in a cool and not nerdy way... make sure not to get her thinking that you could hack into her e-mail of Facebook account else as you are concerned she'll go from hero to creepo in a matter of seconds... figure out a subtle way to DHV, you don't want to seem overtly eager to talk about yourself...

I think that you should stop thinking so hard about what's a "DHV" and whats not ;)

It's not helping you. Being a bad ass hacker like Mega Upload status, yes. Helping with a computer is a nice guy.

It ain't going to help and you're showing lower value by doing shit for her for no reason. It's different if you're just a friend and you've et her know you're not interested but if she knows you're interested in her and still doing shit for her you're just telling her you're her lapdog. If you want to DHV just turn her down as RedLight said and tell her to learn how to do it herself, it's not your problem.

On the matter of DHV, you want to be aloof about something like that. It's a skill but it's not a widely socially accepted skill. Instead you should just passively say "Yeah, I know how to do that stuff" and leave it at that. Creates mystery and shows you're not so emotionally unbalanced that you need to cling to any one aspect of your life that you excel at.

It's the same for a lot of things. For things like psychology, hacking or anything of the like that might allow you to get a bit too advantageous you want to play it down. Believe it or not a lot of people will immediately jump to the harshest of conclusions. Psychologist: "Omg, he can read my mind." <--- Intimidated. Hacker: "Omg this guy can hack my e-mail and facebook." <--- Intimidation.
