Is this umbrella good for peacocking or is it over-the-top?

My usual style is shirt, sports coat or trench coat (usually dark), dark jeans or pinstripe slacks and black leather shoes or boots.

Hey mate I'm just gonna throw my 2 cents in. If the umbrella is part of your style then go for it, but don't use it as a peacocking tool. Use it more a a practical tool its raining use it and invite a girl to stand under it or something along those lines. That's just my opinion, but I'm also not a fan of peacocking if you go to www.wayofthe player.com there's some good articles about the downfalls of peacocking and just style in general.

Anyway that was probably more than you were asking for. Good luck.

It was precisely my point. Here it rains a lot this time of the year and I frequently need an umbrella (park in the street and a bit away from both job and college). And I frequently give girls a lift to/from their cars when there is raining. So I was thinking that if I have to carry an umbrella might as well be something cool. Another option:

Well in that case its not really peacocking. I'd say go for it the katana umbrella is pretty stylish imo do it up.

I think your umbrealla looks cool. Just don't make a big deal about it, just use it for what it is - an umbrella.

Let me share some of my personal insights about peacocking and clothing in general...

What is peacocking all about? It is to dress out of the ordinary (it all depends on what kind of people you meet) to get attention. Overdo it, and people will either feel uncomfortable or think you are some silly goof or, as in Mystery's case, an attention whore (well, many girls are attracted to attention whores though). This will be counterproductive.

The opposite would be to dress exactly like everybody else (since any deviant clothing can be considered peacocking). This will make it easier for you to blend in and be socially accepted by the group. But it will also make you undistinguished and featureless. Boring.

You should have guessed the optimal formula by now: Dress like the people you like to meet, but change some details in order to stand out from the crowd.

Good. I got it right, then.

I tend to dress more of the business casual style. Almost always shirt and sports coat, sometimes a vest or a tie, black leather trench with fur collar in winter. Lots of pinstripe. Don't use a tracksuit or snickers unless I am going to do sport and woudn't be caught dead in ripped jeans. Baically I have a kind of old-school, steampunk vibe, but not a freak like the punks or goths. I tend to blend in until you notice the details, like a pocket watch, clockwork cufflinks, big rings with masonic simbols or small, round sunglasses. That is why I liked that first umbrella, it resembles a 19th century cane.
