| Post subject: | Where I failed on my blind date... |
Hey all. I'm looking for some professional critiquing of my blind date last week. It was a blind date setup by a mutual friend, so it's like we are truly meeting for the first time. I did get her # a few days prior to our meeting. She preferred texting, so that's what I did. We texted for about 3 days straight before our first date. They were very engaging and she always asked a follow-up question. She even stated she loves to txt all day long. We meet on Monday. The first date lasted about 4 hours. We had drinks a bite to eat a local bar. I thought the date went very well. It was riled with IOIs. The first 20-30 mins she fumbled with her ring. Anytime we spoke, our eyes were locked the entire time (I actually looked away a couple of times as a test). As the date progressed, I got the head tilt with neck exposure. She laid her head on her hand for a decent portion of the date. We never had a pause in conversation. If I finished with my sentence, she was quick to move on to something else. About 3/4 through the date, she couldn't' stop fumbling with her left earing. When we walked back to the parking lot, she was walking very close to me. She was in my personal space. We agreed the date was great, and we wanted to see each other again. The date ended with a sincere hug. I txt'd her the next morning asking how her morning went and she responded. I told her I had a great time and she said she had a great time too. I said I like to meet up again. No response. I waited a full day and txt'd her the following morning. She said her day was extremely busy, but asked how my day was. I told her. No response. I txt'd her the next morning asking where she was going to be at a certain time on Sunday (we both were going to attend a race that morning). No response. That was my last txt. It was last Friday. I'm going to take a wild guess and say she had another date with someone else and ended up going that route. Let me ask this question: Do you think I screwed up by not closing the date out with a kiss or something more aggressive? Do you think my passive ending to a date filled with IOIs sealed my fate? I thought by being passive, it would lead to her waiting more on the next date. If that's the case, I feel kinda crummy that I wasted a great first date. If anyone needs any additional info, please ask away. Thanks. |

I think you should always go for a kiss on the first date... I also think calling her the morning after is a little obsessive and probably creeped her out. Give her time to think about you, don't smother her. |

You warmed her up but didn't pull the trigger. Bad move now she thinks you're not experienced enough or too shy. You gotta take that kill shot or you look AFC, turning her off. Learn from this mistake. |

Thanks guys. I guess I was a little confused. She told our mutal friend that she was looking for a 'nice guy" and she told me she was also previously divorced during the date. With those 2 points, I figured going for kiss would be overboard on our first encounter. I'm assuming it's too late for a recovery at this point? Don't text her anymore and let her go? |

Always go for a kiss, if not more if you think the date is going well. Sounds like she isn't interested.

So, since I believed all was lost, I went for broke. I texted her today and basically said I haven't heard from you in a few days and I wanted to know if she was still interested and to let me know. She actually replied and said she wasn't trying to blow me off. She had a family emergency over the weekend and just got back. BUT, she would like to keep things as a friendship if it was ok by me. I was surprised she actually replied, but the friendship thing threw me off. I let her know that I hope everything is ok, and that I'm down with meeting new people and hopefully we can become friends. She responded with saying she appreciated my condolences and such. I have decided to leave it as is. Since she actually responded, do I have any reason to pursue? Thanks again for the input. |
