I suppose that makes sense. Ill try and give more information. Ive noticed it with maybe 4 or 5 girls. All of them around HB7-8ish, any girls below that, dont do it. The girls who are 9's and 10's dont do it either, theyl usually smile and say hi, im guessing this is because 9's and 10's are more used to being around men and interacting with men. Also a couple of these girls are friends on facebook, and will somewhat interact with me, however not directly, just liking statuses every now and then. Also when I said 'hugging the wall' i mean just giving me as wide a berth as possible, and usually either with their gaze fixed ahead of them or at the floor. As I said, I cant see how i could creep them out because most of the time they dont even see that im looking at them and trying to smile.

Il try and ask a female friend at work about it today, see what she thinks. Will let you all know what she thinks, hopefully it will be useful for the community!

I've noticed something strange lately at work, mainly with the younger girls (17-19). With most of the girls at work I get a lot of iois and can have chats with and some of them have even told me I'm hot. However I've found with some of the younger girls, often when walking past me, they will totally avoid eye contact and almost hug the wall as they walk, as if scared or intimidated. Now I can't imagine why I would be scary or intimidating! But I'm wondering could these be iois? Is it just the girls are really shy and don't really know how to deal with the situation? I really can't understand it and I hope to god that its not becuase I'm creepy or anything. All I do is try and smile. Anyone else encountered this?

hmm that is strange,you could simply ask them,what the fuck are you guys doing? only ask this if they suddenly changed attitude towards you. if not,just out-do it what their doing: if you see them girls walking down the hall,turn on your heel and hide until they pass,something like this, be creative . show them you arent giving into their shit keep up the smiling.it will show that you arent affected by this change and you are positive

It's hard to tell too much by the limited information provided, but I will make one macro point. The sincerity of your post is clearly real. However, sometimes our PERCEPTIONS are skewed to look at things more negatively than they are. In this case, I suspect if you asked the girls that "hugged the wall" they probably wouldn't even have noticed they were doing it. Maybe you're just reading too much into a small sample size of girls where this has happened. It's similar to the psychological phenomena when you get caught by a train at train tracks. We naturally tend to think negatively when that happens and lament that we always seem to get stuck by the train. The reality is that we easily forget the hundreds of times we pass over the railroad tracks and DON'T get stopped. I'm willing to bet tons of girls pass you and DON'T hug the wall. Get a much bigger sample size and check your perceptions before worrying too much at this point.

If its only 4-5 girls and they just gaze straight ahead,they probably have they minds set on something work-related and they may not have time to chat.If the HB9s and 10s dont do it,thats good,the best girls are looking at you and .... smiling i would advise to ask a female colleague about it but ease into it and dont jump into the problem at hand. i hope it works out

Girls that age are in an awkward stage, sex is a taboo, and they may feel asexual energy from you. Just don';t expect them to talk to you, you have to initiate the conversations everytime until they become comfortable enough to smile at you

I asked my friend about it, and turned out to be inconclusive. I thought a girl would know but obviously not. I know it shouldn't but it has kind of affected my confidence. Part of me thinks that the reason the hotter girls (the girls who do it are still hot, just not 9's or 10's) do smile at me is because they are just generally more confident and don't mind interacting with anyone regardless of looks. I'm sure you guys will say i'm being stupid, but it really makes me feel like crap. I've always had confidence issues about my appearance and a tendency towards depression, so when girls go out of their way to avoid eye contact i'm just like 'fuuuuck! I must really be so unattractive i'm frightening!'
