Post subject:  thinking of deleting facebook

I'm 39 single not been married. Kind of new in my city. Just got out of a 2 year relationship with my last girlfriend a few months ago. I want to date a lot of women, and get in my one thousand approaches.

I am planning on traveling a lot over the next year though and meet a lot of travelers.

I had about 100 friends on facebook, but now I trimmed it down to like 38.

Is facebook a big deal these days when trying to date? I was wanting to just delete it as I am trying to change my life a lot and the facebook page is pretty depressing to me.

How important if at all is it to have a facebook account? Other good ways to network?

Thanks!

I myself would keep it, but the in-person game is much more effective. I use it as a tool, like a cellphone. To each his own...

If your Facebook profile and wall sucks ass, girls will judge you. If you have no Facebook profile at your age, no one will judge you. After all, Facebook is popular with the younger generations, not Generation X.

That's a good point.

I have it deactivated at this point. Not sure if I would say it totally sucks, but that I have a small amount of friends on it.

I do have cool photos of traveling around the world on there. It's mostly family on there right now.

I was mainly looking at possibly keeping it to add contacts when I travel or when I meet people playing poker that seem interesting in Vegas, seems like a good way to make contacts.

I hid my friend count on facebook for right now since it's less than 50. I had over 100 but deleted a ton of people cause it was so oudated.

Looking to build a social network overall. It sucked in the past and it's been a reality check for me that I stopped adding friends around the high school age. I'd like to create a new reality with tons of cool friends in the near future that are cool and interesting like me:))

If you decide to delete your Facebook, commit. If you get rid of it and keep coming back, it's annoying. "Whaaa, I got a message??"

I've been keeping it deactivated lately, and check it once a month to keep tabs on family.

Until I start adding new connections, that seems like enough. There's not really anything fun on there now. No one is sending me messages anyways, that won't be an issue.

As for gaming, I would just basically say yeah I have an account but it's been deactivated, because .....blah blah blah...? Or....blah blah blah..??

What's a good thing to say? The mystery would probably be a lot better than seeing the page until after I bang the girl and know here awhile.
