Started talking to this girl, who showed a lot of interest in me and naturally I started to quite like her. I'm moving away soon, and we both agreed that it's better to just remain friends. It turns out she's got a few guys who seem to adore her, so I've backed off because she's not worth the drama. She presumes I still like her and has said “Well I'll just presume you like me, until you say otherwise”. Not knowing really what to say that, I said something along the lines of “If that's what makes you happy” which I appreciate was kind of retarded, but I wanted to avoid her getting upset again.

Cutting this girl loose entirely is just not an option at the moment as she's somewhat tied into my social circle and she's kinda volatile. I tried flat out telling her “No” when she asked if I was interested in her sexually, she started crying and presumes I was just saying that to upset her. I've tried reducing the amount I chat to her, but she then starts upset because she presumes I dislike her.

I want to kill off this idea in her head that we're going to be something more than friends. Any ideas for dealing with this delicately?
No contact is the best approach right now, you've told her that you don't see her like that and she's to emotionally immature to handle it the right way.

just see her as a friend, but i mean really just as a friend and youll be ok. if she wants to upgrade to something else let her do the effort, if not shes just a friend and your ok

get another girl, sounds like u havnt got a problem with the ladies so get another girl just open take her out with this social circle should be enough will make her jealous but will also send enough of a message that she goes he doesnt like me like that !!! harsh but effective

This might sound crazy, but you could try telling her that right now all of your focus is on God. If she thinks she can compete with that then she's really scary.
