Post subject:  How to react on compliments? pls help

Hey guys,

this might be really a stupid question/problem, but it is there.

I play guitar (I used to have classical guit. concerts in front of 400 ppl audiences), piano and I speak 4 foreign languages and I am master class level of salsa dancing. From my environmental background (long story) it is said, that if you get a compliment, you should be polite and deny it, or try to somehow make it sound less a big deal than people are actually making out of it. I am kind of fucking fixed on this stupid thing and dont know how to react once I get an admiration, from a girl, or from anyone. I go red and look into the ground.

It drives me angry, because I know, that this something I can leverage on in my game, but there is this STUPID barrier, that always makes me feel vulnerable and "naked", once I get a compliment.

At the same time, it is one of the things that helped me move forward, since I always wanted to make a good impression on people. I did all of this because I liked it, but at the same time I was looking forward to all the admiration I will get once I will show up. On the other hand, once they start to do that, there is something in me, that pulls me backwards. God knows, maybe I need a shrink :)

So once you get a compliment, what do you say? What do you do?

"Oh, you are such an amazing dancer!"
or like
"Oh, you must have worked hard to acquire this bla bla bla."

I´m always like...well...yeah..I took a lot of courses and shit. Or..well you know, it was not that difficult, I liked it.

What do you guys think?

A simple thank you will be enough. No need to deny or no need to explain. Thank you and change the conversation. Don't be the typical guy that compliments her back too.

There's the famous "Thanks." if you don't want or can't go forward.
For direct compliments, such as the one on the dancing there are various combinations of responses, but I like cocky replies similar to "I know." or "You noticed, huh?" and then you can follow up with "It's a curse", or something along those lines.
With the more complicated ones, such as "It must've took you a long time to master it..." you can say something funny, or something like "Not really. It's a gift." ;then cut her off, and assume that she wants you to give her some advice. Start negging her and take the interaction from there.

Options (from worst to best):
1-Compliment her back (very beta)
2-Say thanks (neutral as long as you change the subject afterwards and don't linger on the compliment)
3-Ignore her compliment as in don't be thankful (see what Testicles wrote)
